After listening to Easy Lesson Plan Makeovers on the Shake Up Learning Show podcast, I think there are lots of really nice ideas. I know in Year 6, we have discussed veering from the usual science project to create an online website that displays experiments and STEAM activities they have completed. Whereas our discussion was for students individually, I think there is lots to be said about encouraging students to collaborate with one another. In addition to learning the content and exploring new ideas, they are learning communication skills, collaboration skills, web design skills, and many more.

The host also talked about having a website for students to build throughout the year based on significant historical figures or events. Instead of a traditional research paper, this gives them the opportunity to engage more in the content while working together with their peers. I think this is a great idea for next year when we do biographies. They can make their web page about the person and share information about the person throughout the year building on their skills and what they've learned.

It gave some pretty interesting tips on how to incorporate it into your live lessons/recorded videos. I thought it would be a great way to use a mind map with students. For ex., int'l week is coming up and creating a brain map of the different countries students are from would make a great visual. The app also has tools to search and add in pictures, from where they are from for example. Definitely going to play around with it some more.

I listened to how to design meaningful dynamic learning experiences for your students on the Shake Up Learning Show podcast. It was interesting and the end of a five part series so it condensed alot of what was spoken about in the previous episodes. Some of the key points I learnt from listening to the podcast are outlined below:

Dynamic Learning: You have to purposefully plan these experiences for your students, you need to be aligned to your learning goals and integrate technology. Always begin with the end in mind! Plan for success. What is dynamic learning: Constant change in activity, takes place organically, learners collaborating, critical thinking, creativity and communicating (4Cs). Extends beyond the classroom. Ensure you always include differentiation and quality feedback to your students. This podcast reminded me that there is always something more we can be doing and ways we can improve our teaching and learning experiences for our students.

Using Jamboard is a very practical way in Math lessons because first it is a very clear way for explanation as the students can see it as an interactive board as in their classrooms. Also it can be edited so if we are working on a classwork any of the students can solve the question.
For example: Jamboard made it easy to explain for my year 8s the areas of different shapes.
I can also add explanation documents, pictures, tables, video links and share the Jamboard with the students at the end of each lesson.
