Lesson 1 Long Answer Questions

This session is to help you get better at answering long answer questions. All the resources you need are below this note.

1. Open the longs answer questions sheet below and look at question b)
2. Underline the key question words
3. Underline the key information you need to include in your answer in a different colour
4. Make a plan for how you would answer this question
5. Share this plan with another memeber of the class and together come up with the best plan you can
6. On your own use the plan to answer the question
7.Swap answers with another memeber of your class. Open the mark scheme (below) and mark their work. Be as honest as you can. Once marked give them 1 area where they have done well and one area of improvement
8. Have a look at your comment and your marks and see how you have done.
9. Now try the next long answer question (below). Remember to think about planning and underlining. You have a long time for these questions and they are worth a lot of marks. Make sure you make full use of the time and marks.
10. Again swap with another member of the class and mark each others
11. Has you mark improved from last time?
12. Now write you own 6 mark question with mark scheme about the topic of internal resistance. Use the other papers and mark schemes to give you ideas for the style and way it should look
13. Give your question to another member of the class and you do theirs
14. Mark each others work. Discuss together any areas of the mark schemes you disagree with

Lesson 2 - describing circuits

Something you need some help with is being able to describe what is going on inside a circuit using technical language. As part of this you need to be able to define some key words. Any resources you need for this lesson are below this block.

1. Define these words on paper
2. Check your definitions using the documnent below
3. When describing things you need to be really careful about:
a) stating what you are talking about
b) Use increase, decease or stay the same where appropriate
c)Be consise
d)don't contradict yourself
e) Make 1 point for every mark allocated, 1 sentance will rarely get you 2 marks
f) Use key words carefully
4. Have a go at the electricity questions below. Remember underlining. Discuss any issues with other members of the class if you need help.
5. Swap papers with another member of the class and mark each others work. As with last lesson give them a comment saying where they have done well and where they need to improve.
6. Think about an object you own. Write a detailed description of it being as precise as you can. Complete the description within 5 minutes. Do not state on the description what it is just describe it.
7. Swap descriptions with the person next to you. Read their description and draw what they described and write down what you think it is.
8. Have a discssion with each other about how good the descriptions were and how they could be improved.
9. Have a go at further description questions
10. Swap sheets with another member odf the class and mark each others. Give them feedback comments as before
