This article relates to the constitution in many ways. Firstly, our constitution describes that each senator should only have one vote, or a vote per man. Lobbying allows one powerful and rich man to have many votes. This concentration of power is exactly what our framers were trying to avoid. Secondly, lobbying limits the representation of the people. By bribing senators and other legislative powers, big corporations and business are able to strip the people of their voice. For example, most people want to see legislation enacted to protect the environement from climate change. Nominating a coal lobbyist to help lead the Environmental Protection Agency goes against the people’s wishes. Lastly, lobbying corrupts our legislative bodies with money.
