Crime

Speaker 1

1. Poverty
The crime rate continues to increase every single day. There are many reasons why people commit crimes. Poverty is the one of the most concrete reasons why people commit crimes. The hunger and poor economic conditions are what leads many people to invest themselves in criminal cases. We live in a time where the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer every single day.

2. Drugs

Drugs have always been highly criticized by critics. A person who is addicted to drug will at one point in time do something such as crime. After research, when the most violent criminals were asked about their crimes, they blamed drugs as the main reason.

3. Politics
The drive to get that seat is what swings many politicians to equip the youths with weapons and perform criminal activities. In developing countries it is common for politicians to kill people and to be found guilty of murder.

Speaker 2

1.Treat violence as a public health
We need to use campaigns and technology to reach every child and family in these countries. We need to develop those tools to make sure that everybody feels important and cared for through parenting interventions, family interventions, wellbeing campaigns, and early childhood.

2. Move away from the focus on poverty
Countries are overcoming extreme poverty and becoming more violent, so it is now part of our job to look beyond those solutions and what other factors may be driving those crime rates.

3. Keep in mind the impact of drugs
The global “war on drugs” is a massive driver of crime, violence and insecurity. It is time for all international anti-violence development initiatives to take this on board.

SPEAKER 1
HAGILAN RAJ

SPEAKER 2
JEROME JOY
