The worker states," Never mind, brother... What happens to one of us happens to all"(Head, 69-70). This shows the bond between everyone in Span One. Everyone in Span One works together, falls together, and is treated the same.  Also, in this story, Brille has a strong bond with his family. This bond is shown when Juan starts his job in "Section K where envelopes are very carefully screened for explosives"(Valenzuela, 49-50). Juan shows his love for Mariana. He risks his life to get his letter passed the censors. Later in the story, Juan gets caught for his plan to get his letter through the system.
