Percy didn't deserve that! and that is how I started to warm up to the main character and his friend Grover, and even start to like them. in the scene when Percy eavesdrops, he hears the sound of horse hooves. I wonder what that could mean. Also, Percy's math teacher was actually a demon and he killed her with a sword, but all the students suddenly did not remember Mrs. Dodds the math teacher. Grover is introduced as a weakling, so when he says that he needs to protect Percy, it is kinda weird. when Percy gets home, his step father is introduced as a really mean person and his mother, the opposite. he also starts to hate his real father for abandoning his mother. when Grover shows up at Percy and his mothers rental beach house, he does not have pants on, revealing his goat legs. as they leave for a camp Percy's father wanted to send him to, Percy sees a person fallowing them. The person is actually the Minotaur, and Percy kills it revealing some awesome fighting skills and he also loses his mother. when he wakes up from fainting, he meets Anabeth who is really smart and has been at camp for a year. Also, his Latin teacher is  centaur. (explains the horse hooves from earlier) the camp director is a god, and this is a camp for half god half mortal kids. As Anabeth takes Percy on a tour, the meet Clarice the bully from Ares's cabin. she tries to shove Percy's head down the toilet but he makes the toilets shoot water at her somehow. he meets Luke, the oldest person in the Hermes cabin (which Percy is staying in until he gets claimed) Percy tries out all the activities and the only things he is good at is canoeing and sword fighting. During capture the flag, Percy gets attacked by Clarice (she was angry from the bathroom incident) and she pushes him into a river. Percy feels better and finds the strength to fight back while Luke wins the capture the flag game. while he is still in the creek, Anabeth appears out of nowhere (she has an invisibility hat) and Percy is attacked by a hell hound. after it dies, he is claimed by Posiden. Later, Percy receives a quest and takes it. Before he leaves he goes to his cabin and finds a news paper that describes him as a fugitive who killed his mother and Smelly Gabe as a poor man who had everything taken from him from a child with problems. this makes Percy mad and makes him the public enemy back in the mortal world. he Anabeth and Grover set off to the underworld to retrieve the master bolt. That is because, Zeus thinks that Percy has the master bolt, and Percy needs to find and return it before a war breaks out. (main problem) the trio gets on a bus out of the city, and are attacked by three old ladies with whips. the bus explodes, their backpacks explode, and they run into the woods away from the scene. They find a garden gnome emporium to rest at, and the owner is actually medusa! Percy kills it, showcasing how good he is at fighting, and he sends the head to Olympus to make his dad proud. they go into the woods to make camp, find a poodle who turns itself in to get money to help Grover. they book train tickets and are on their way. Even though Athena and Posiden have a fierce rivalry, Anabeth and Percy are starting to warm up to each other. they make a pit stop of the train, Anabeth wants to visit a monument (the st. Luis arch)and Percy has to jump of the top 400ft and he meets a sea spirit from Posiden at the bottom of a river telling him his mom is not totally dead. when Percy gets out of the water he has to nimbly make his way around the crowd of reporters at the scene because of how Smelly Gabe made him seem like a bad guy, he would be arrested or something. they get away from the scene where they contact camp half blood, where it is getting pretty tense because word of the missing master bolt and campers were starting to take sides. after that they go to find some food, where they meet Ares where he says that he can get them a ride if they can retrieve his shield from a broken down water park. while at the water park, they steel all of the clean clothes from the merchandise shop, and they see ares's shield at the bottom of a pool. Percy and Anabeth go down to get it, but its a trap and there are a bunch of spiders, (which Anabeth is afraid of) so Percy pulls water through the old pipes, activating the ride and pushing them down the tunnel in a boat. at the end of the ride, the tunnel is blocked off and they jump over the gates that are blocking the end right before they get smashed. they bring the shield back to ares, and he gives them a backpack and tells them to get in the back of a zoo truck because that is their ride to Vegas. they get in the back of the truck where the animals are being treated badly, and they wait. when they are at Vegas they get out and release the animals while they look for a place that has air conditioning where they can regroup and come up with a plan. they find this place where they can relax, and someone who comes up to them gives them room keys and key cards to the arcade games with unlimited money. they enjoy themselves for what FEELS like hours, but Percy discovers that they have actually been there for 5 days! now they have to hurry because they only have one day. needing to get to LA fast, Anabeth loads them into a Las Vegas taxi and gives him the key card. it has infinite money, and he got them there fast. the driver drops them off at the beach and Percy walks into the surf, where he meets the same spirit he met at the St. Louis arch. she gives him three pearls and tells him, remember. what belongs to the sea always returns to the sea. they start searching for the door to the underworld, and on the way they meet some mortal thugs and they duck into a shop and they meet a monster who tries to stretch them out so that they fit perfectly on water beds. but Percy traps the monster in a water bed, and kills him. then they find the gate to the underworld, and pay the gate keeper some god money so he will let them pass. they take a boat across a river and distract Hades's dog with three heads with a rubber ball, when Grover suddenly starts flying into a cave and he kicks of the flying shoes before they can drag him into a pit of darkness. the pit roars in anger. It clearly wanted to eat them. they enter Hades's palace of darkness. he screams at them for stealing his helm of darkness, which they did not steal. it turns out that Ares stole the master bolt and the helm of darkness in order to start a war. he put the master bolt in Percy's backpack to make Hades think that Percy was coming to threaten him for his mom back. after the confusion Hades orders his skeleton minions to kill them, and they smash the pearls the spirit gave them at their feet and they were surrounded by a bubble that protected them and carried them to the surface. they were picked up by a coast guard in the middle of the ocean. And dropped off on the beach where they see ares. Percy is really mad because he set him up, and fights him. he lures him into the water and uses a wave to jump over him and cut his back leg, and Ares blows up come cop cars that had gathered at the scene. Ares disappears and the reporters who were watching the scene along with the police, ask them if they are alright, and apparently they saw him and Ares fighting with guns. they were no longer fugitives, and the furies that were circling above them come down, and Mrs. Dodds admits he was right and apologizes for almost killing him. after acting sad and pathetic to the reporters (which was not hard) they managed to raise money for Percy to take a plane to New York to see his 'Loving and caring step father' (and to deliver the master bolt to Zeus before the deadline) Percy gets to the empire state building, goes to the 600th floor and returns the bolt to Zeus. Percy explains everything that happened and he talks to Posiden and he tells Percy how proud he is of him. He also mentions how the sea does not like to be restrained. Percy goes home and finds his MOM! apparently Hades felt bad about killing her because Percy was actually not the bad guy (surprise surprise). Smelly Gabe says how he was going to call the cops on him if he did not leave, so Percy and his mom go into his room to talk where they find the head of medusa that Percy had sent to Mount Olympus. One thing still bothers Percy. the line in the prophecy that told him a friend would betray him. maybe it could mean Ares? but he was not sure. Percy goes back to camp half blood and the weeks zoom by, and soon the end of the summer is drawing near. campers either had to stay, or leave. Percy goes to do some sword fighting to clear his mind so that he can make the decision, and he finds Luke. He is using a new sword, that can kill mortals and monsters. Luke offers to take Percy into the woods where they could kill some monsters. he also has a six pack of Cokes. they go into the woods, but could not find any monsters; So, they sit down next to the river and drink Cokes. Luke throws his empty can into the river and Percy is surprised because that is STRICTLY forbidden in camp half blood. Luke seems bitter, and suddenly he starts talking about how the gods will be destroyed, and Percy would not be there to see it. he then stands up and snaps his fingers. a scorpion jumps out and Luke vanishes. Percy kills the scorpion, but not before it stings him. he falls into the river, but the poison is too strong! he yells for help and blacks out. the prophecy had come true. he wakes up and drinks and eats some god food to help him recover, and tells Anabeth and Chiron about Luke. Percy is almost killed by his Pre-Algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodds. Percy isn't a very good student, thanks to his Dyslexia and ADHD, and he is usually always expelled from each school he goes to. And of course, he is expelled from the school he goes to now, Yancy Academy. When his math teacher tries to kill him, his Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, throws him a pen that transforms into a sword when it reaches Percy's hands. He uses it to kill his math teacher. After that, Percy thought that his class would be the witnesses. But nobody remembered who Mrs. Dodds was. They all claimed that their math teacher was someone named Mrs. Kerr. After that, Percy failed school and was expelled, but on the bus ride home, he saw a fruit stand and saw three old ladies knit socks and cut yarn, and Percy noticed that they were all suspiciously staring at him.
Chapters 3-4
After Percy is expelled, he goes back home to his apartment in New York City, where he is greeted by his horrible stepfather, Gabe, and his nice and caring mother. His mother promises to take him on a trip to Montauk, although their trip is cut short after a huge hurricane. While there, Percy is greeted by his friend, Grover, from Yancy Academy, who warns them to leave immediately because of a minotaur who was following them. Grover goes with them, and tells Percy that they need to get to a specific summer camp safely. While they try to get there before the minotaur, Percy realizes that Grover's bottom half was part goat, which meant that Grover was a satyr. Although Percy and Grover get there, his mom is killed by the minotaur. After that, he instantaneously falls asleep.
Chapters 5-6
When Percy wakes up, he finds himself sitting in a farmhouse right next to a strawberry farm. Then he sees his friend Grover, his old Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, and some little man in a Hawaiian shirt all sitting together playing a game. As Percy joins them, he realizes that he is at the summer camp that Grover was talking about, and that the little man was actually the Greek god Dionysus, who was also the camp director. Then, as Mr. Brunner shows Percy around camp, Percy realizes that Mr. Brunner's bottom half was half horse, and that he is the Greek centaur, Chiron. As Chiron shows Percy around camp, Percy realizes that each cabin represents a Greek god, and that the campers staying there are their children. Chiron tells Percy that he will stay at cabin eleven, which was the cabin of the Greek god Hermes. Percy stayed there because he was undetermined, which meant that nobody knew who his godly parent was yet, and Hermes was the god of travelers, so he would have to stay there until he found out who is dad was. As he leaves his things in the Hermes cabin, some kids from the Ares cabin take him to the bathroom, where they tried to dunk him. The water should've hit Percy directly in the face, the water never touched him. Instead, it hit them. Now Percy is very confused, along with the other kids from the Ares cabin, because it almost looked like Percy was controlling the water.
Chapters 7-8
Since Percy was undetermined, he had to sit with cabin eleven during dinner. Each camper, or half-blood, had to give a portion of their food to their godly parent as an offering. Since Percy didn't know who that was, he just prayed that his dad would finally claim him as his son. Soon after, they got ready for a game of capture the flag. The Athena cabin had an alliance with Apollo and Hermes, which was why Percy was on the Athena team. The Ares cabin had alliances with everybody else. Percy's job was Border Patrol, which was to guard the creek and keep away the opponents. While he was doing that, the kids from the Ares cabin who Percy humiliated in the bathroom came back for revenge. They fought him, and although Percy won the fight, he was very badly hurt. They had shoved him into the creek, but when Percy fell in there, he realized that the cuts and bruises that they gave him immediately healed. Now all the other campers were surrounding him too, confused and in shock. But then they heard a growling in the woods and a hell hound quickly jumped on Percy and tried to eat him, but Chiron and some other archers shot it first. The hell hound had gotten some of him, but when he went in the water, he felt as good as new. Then, Percy looked up and found a green holographic image hovering over his head. Also nobody expects him to be because he doesn't look powerful enough.

Another thing i noticed is that right off the bat Percy makes friends and enemy's at the half blood camp. half bloods people and kids that are half god and half mortal. He makes friends with a girl named Anabeth and a boy named Luke. Also his friend from school is there to even though hes not a kid he a sentaur and his name is Grover. He makes enemy's right away too Most of the Ares kids are mean and strong the pick on him because he's new and they just don't like him.

My example of this slight rebellious streak is the blue candy. I have done something like that, to prove someone wrong. Percy gets his courage from her. Smelly Gabe is awful, however he is a perfect  example of all the deadbeats who use women and waste life as well as being abusive. 
Percy's Mom is dead. There are monsters and apparently Percy has super human strength. Someone named Annabeth was name reference so I can infer she'll be important. A demigod. Annabeth has a lot of faith in her mom and is a very logical thinker. Athena, her mother, is the goddess of wisdom.
Percy is pretty alone, the other campers avoid him and only Annabeth and Luke want to hangout with him. Gabe is awful but I do feel like people could think that Percy did do something based on his record on paper but him and his mom had a great relationship because they depended on each other. The oracle (vocab) is very creepy and quite ominous. Annabeth and Grover are the dream team, they are awesome and so compatible with Percy. I also love that Percy is like, "I'm just a kid!" So? if he looks around, there are only kids at the camp.
