The Kwakiutl tribe was a very unique tribe. Nature was a big part their culture because their main belief was nature. They refused to waste food or any other natural resource because of their strong relationship with nature. One of their traditional beliefs was that if they threw the fish skeleton back in the water, it would come back the next year for them to catch. This tribe would've had to develop artistic and creative skills to make totem poles, another big part in their culture. A totem pole is made out of wood and normally
is a colorful piece to show that someone died, a special occasion, or to haunt off evil
spirits. This tribe hasn't changed much over the years. There are still keeping up with most of their tradition even in today's world.

The Northwest created their own language and called it kwakwala it had many different sounds. Today the kwakiatul tribe members mostly speake English but they also speak some of their native tongue. Kwakiutl is a Northern wakashan languege it is spoken by about 200 people at the north end of Vancouver island and in adijacent areas on the main land. The real name for Kwakiutl is kwakawaka'wakw. Kwakawaka'wakw means the people who speak kwak'wala. What I think is very interesting is that only 4% of Kwakiutl speak their native languege.

The drills were mostly used for sewing purposes or making holes in the ground or in wood . The tribe also used harpoons and spears to hunt and fish . The Kwakiutl people also used an adze for carving wood and woodwork. There are different types of adze's such as a d-shaped adze that is also used for woodwork.

The Kwakuitl way of life was very interesting to many people .

By:Zoe k
The kwakutuls sheter is very interested. They are vert different then most tribes.

The kwakutl tribe lived in a narrow strip of land along the pacific coast. They also lived in British,Columbia, and Canida. There climate is mild there tribe area receives heavy rain falls most of the year also some people had to settle on few flat rocky beaches. In there houses they had bunk beds with a 2 feet hole to store food.

The Kwakiutls houses were rectangular cedar plank houses with bark roofs what I thought was crazy is that there houses were up to 100 feet long and 20 feet wide. Each house could hold several family's as much as 50.They painted there houses with bright colors and designs which stood for the family clan.

As you can see ther shelter is amazing and also there houses look really funny.I though there tribe had an interesting life
