         <description><![CDATA[<div>MSD among pineapple plantation.<br>A portable sensor like surface EMG that can be use outdoors to measurs the electrical respond of muscles and nerves in real time. Current EMG equipments are in laboratories and its sensitivity only allows them to be use indoors.&nbsp;<br>DEVELOPMENT- This portable sensors can be attached to workers during their outdoor activities to get more precise measurement because activities perform indoors and outdoors are usually affected by other factors that need to be put into consideration.<br>FUNCTION- Its function is to get the most accurate readings of electrical muscle respond directly on site in real time along with other factors that could possibly affect mucles and the nerve system such as weather, surrounding condition etc. These sensors will be attached at body parts that requires muscle electrical readings and readings will be send to recording devices that later can be plug in to computers for analyzing process.<br>POPULATION- Workers/ Farmers in plantation industry.          <title>Problem: Water pollution is among the most frequent disturbance in our daily life. It results in poor quality of life and has a lot of adverse health effects. Population in Malaysia depends mainly on the water sampling done by the Government (MOH). It would be better if all domestic water users can install a reliable water pollutant sensor at a reasonable price in their homes. The sensor/s should only cover some pollutants that cannot be filtered or cleaned by domestic water filter.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Idea : To develop a sensor to detect odor that were higher than the standard or categorized as nuisance to the community near the landfill area<br><br>How it works : The sensor will be place at the nearby residential area. If the odor/smell from landfill is higher which mean the smell become nuisance to the community, it will be detected and send a signal to the landfill operator via any system/apps. Thus, with this sensor it will help the landfill operator to detect at which time or which situation that they need to prepare for covering or prevent the odor from spreading to the nearby community.&nbsp;<br><br>Target population : within 5km from the landfill or nearby comersial and residential area<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Problem :</strong> Any disturbing or unwanted noise that interferes with or harms humans or wildlife is considered noise pollution. Despite the fact that we are constantly surrounded by noise, noise pollution receives less attention than water and air quality issues because it cannot be seen, tasted, or smelled.<br>Noise pollution harms wildlife species by reducing habitat quality, increasing stress, and masking other sounds.<br>According to World Heath Organization (WHO), noise pollution from road traffic is the second most harmful environmental stressor behind air pollution.<br><br><strong>Idea :&nbsp; </strong>To develop sensor to detect excessive noise from motor vehicle and to find disturbance sources<br><br><strong>Development</strong> : This portable sensors can be put /attached to motor vehicles ( car, motorcycles)&nbsp; to monitor noise produced. This sensors measure sound levels by calculating the pressure of sound waves in the air. <br><br><strong>Function : </strong>to detect excessive noise level and identify disturbance sources.          <title>Problem: Pressure and motion sensor for ergonomics. The function of these sensors would to be (1) measure the pressure of the back, buttocks, and thighs; (2) motion sensors that can measure movements and curvatures of the spine while sitting. Function: These sensors will be able to provide data that can help improve sitting posture by creating chairs or desks that can be used for people that sit for long periods such as office workers or students, It can also help to provide some data in relation to repetitive movements and their injuries associated with them. These sensors can be used in multiple area. Population: The target population would be anyone who sits for multiple hours a day. Some of these people would be office workers, students, toll both operators, taxi driver, and long haul truck driver. The jobs that require long sitting periods are endless. Although this is designed for the population of people who are sedentary in their jobs, it could also be used for people who have active jobs. These sensors will be able to help determine how injuries occur by monitoring body movements from lifting and bending. It can also give some data in regards to falls and pressure caused from landing on the buttocks or back.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The main objective was to measure noise pollution levels in areas with high traffic flow such as university campus, schools, construction sites, industrial zones and social events. Many test scenarios were planned, documented and executed applying systems engineering principles and techniques. The noise pollution measurements were obtained by the WSN sensors in real-time using a decibel scale and included specific sensor location information using GPS data. A star topology was implemented with AT transparent mode, and data frames generated in the ATMega328p microcontroller were transmitted . The data obtained by the sensor nodes were sent to the Noise Pollution Measuring System software application . System Algorithm known as SIMCA developed in Visual Studio C#, where data was analyzed and statistical information generated. The WSN sensor data was correlated with the information obtained from the CMS50D pulse oximeter sensor to identify a relationship between high noise levels and its effect on heart rate and blood oxygen. The results collected from the different test scenarios and human test subjects were documented properly and analyzed<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;<br><br>&nbsp;The Noise Pollution Measurement System was tested to demonstrate its functionality. A test plan was generated with test objectives, test equipment, reference documents, and test procedures. The test considered a scenario with a population of seven test subjects, 6 male and 1 female with ages ranging from 20 – 35 years old. The test subjects were exposed to construction noise for a period of 18 minutes with an average noise level of 88 dBA. The CMS50D sensor was placed on each person before the test started to measure heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Most of the test subjects had a variation in their heart rate and blood oxygen levels after being exposed to the construction noise. One person in particular presented severe health effects after being exposed to noise; the heart rate and stress level increased significantly and pain was felt on one of his ears. The same test equipment and test methodology were applied to all test subjects. The test results showed higher values for heart rate and changes in blood oxygen saturation levels. Performing system validation tests is critical to identify the real impact of noise pollution. The sensor nodes located in different city locations, will collect data automatically and send it to a central data processing center, using resources more efficiently and optimizing data analysis processes&nbsp;<br><br><br>The WSN network was designed and implemented successfully with three nodes, sending real-time data to the SIMCA interface without information loss. At the beginning of the node operation process a 10 second data latency is present until the communication between the sensor nodes and the coordinator node is established. The JTS-1357 digital sound level meter showed accurate data compared to a professional calibrated sensor such as the CESVA SC310 sound level meter. The GY-GPS6MV2 GPS model presents a 10-minute latency before it acquires satellite data depending on the location of the GPS component. In the meantime, the sensor nodes send a zero value in the data fame until the blue LED indicator turns on and indicates that satellite data is available and allows the data frame to be transmitted to the coordinator node. The BAN network with the CMS50D sensor obtains accurate heart rate and oxygen data and transmits y to a computer with low latency. In the Noise Pollution Measuring System test and validation phase, several volunteers were exposed to different test&nbsp; scenarios with different noise levels and period of time, while monitoring their heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Many studies have been completed to identify the correlation between noise pollution and its effect on human health. However most of the collected data is not stored in a shared database or may not be updated on a frequent basis, preventing decision makers from having access to accurate data in realtime. This paper proposes an efficient technological solution that collects data and transmits data in real-time to a private database or cloud network using wireless communications. This technology allows government entities to obtain data remotely, and simplifies coordination efforts between them by having access to real-time data.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
