Truman capote finishes the first chapter by giving us the point of views of the close ones to Mr. Clutter and how he impacted them to be a better version of themselves. But they felt depressed that all his hard work was in vane just because of how everything was lost in just in one night. How it says in page 79 "Everything Herb had,-He made something of his life."

Capote gives us information of the detectives and how important the Clutter case is to them. Many suspects are being introduced and being questioned but theres no lead being made. Which is stressing the detectives because they are really close friends to the clutter family and know how much of a good people they were and they don't deserve what happened to them. Page 80 says "However long it takes, it may be the rest of my life, I'm going to know what happened in that house: the why and who".

Capote gives the points of view of people who knew the Clutter family. they show confusion because of how well and respected the Clutter family was. Page 8 says "but the family represented everything people hereabouts really value and respect, and that such a thing could happen to them".

Capote introduces us to Susan Kidwell who says she had a very strong friendship with Nancy Clutter. In this chapter we are getting to know Nancy Clutter a little more and about her relationship with Bobby. Page 94 says "Except once in a while Bobby said he'd loved Nancy, and how he could never care about another girl". This gives the audience an impression of how Nancy Clutter was very loved by many people and was close to them.

This chapter highlights the amazing work the KBI agents especially Alvin Dewey who is very invested in this case. This chapter also explores the psychological states of Perry and Dick. "imagination of course, can open any door-turn key and let terror walk right in"

In this chapter we are given a day "November 23" where the one of the two surviving daughters of the clutter family are in a ceremony experiencing her marriage with Mr. Vere Edward. I feel like the daughters is taking this experience as a sign to let go from things from the past and start with a new life. My reasoning for this is page 107, "The deed is done and taking another life cannot change it. Instead, let us forgive as God would have us do". This shows us how she just wants to move on from the past.

In this chapter Dick and Perry have successfully made it to Mexico We are being told about unfamiliar behavior between the two and how they get annoyed/mad over small things. Page 109 Dick says "Its just I don't believe it that anyone can get away with a thing like that. Because I don't see how its possible. To do what we did. And just one hundred percent get away with it. I mean that's what bugs me" This shows us how Dick knows what he did was really wrong but he is more upset at the fact that what he did has had no action to it.

In this chapter I feel like Truman Capote is trying to gaslight us into thinking that Perry is a good person but is the way he is because of his childhood and also by adding some characteristics of his mother. Dick is also trying to make him feel better by saying that how they are is normal. Page 110 Perry says "I think there must be something wrong with us" I feel like Perry could've maybe got himself out of this situation if Dick didn't influence him in ways.
