women and girls, i really liked her work as although slightly distorted with unusual colours the way it looks really appeals to me and i’m going to try and take inspiration to make something similar. how she explores the use of her personal memories in her painting through the use of layering like how Showering does Edefalk also does this. ‘Cecilia Edefalk’s intuitive and deeply personal practice often draws from things that she encounters in her everyday life’ this painting is one of my favourites from hers as the movement of the brushstrokes just shout out to me there’s so much movement in this that i just love i feel like it’s captured a pure moment in time and the memory feels distant yet simultaneously vivid because there’s aspects that seem so recognisable.  ]]> 2021-10-20 20:45:30 painting i found it last year however i really enjoy Welteroth’s use of colour within his work even though this is monochrome the way i’m able to see the depth through the way he’s painting ed it and really thinking about what i wanted my art to represent as a woman i often found myself painting other woman and looking at them as the focal of a painting. throughout my research i looked at femininity and studied that in films and even in the horror genre i found it really refreshing to look at and it’s something i enjoy. i go through life everyday as a woman and i feel the way i am able to paint them feels sensual and intimate i feel i add a part of myself into my paintings. my paintings often have layered images as i work from a range of things but most of all i want to capture the female experience. it may look like i’ve painted female victims however one may call her a victim but there’s always more to my characters. i gather information from my own personal life and integrate it into my work as i work from my friends and family, even responding to Antonia Showering i was able to relate a painting to one i already had from my childhood. i find when including my personal life in my painting and things i like it feels more intimate to me i’m applying a piece of me onto my canvas and allowing that to expose me everyone figure i paint is me in its own way. i feel like as artists we can’t help but have a piece of us in our work no matter what the the image or context it shows a representation of our character. As i said earlier i have been more in touch with femininity as it’s been something i used to repress i hated the idea of being called girly and didn’t know why i had to be labelled and put in a box and my art is to power into that i enjoy painting all types of women and often romanticise my paintings but it’s a part of my escapism the way i do with film. i think in the future to extend my practice i’m going to possible make some of my own videos and paint from them maybe layer up my own images and get even more personal and i think i will be working on a self portrait one with makeup which is one of my favourite forms of art as well and one without.]]> 2021-10-20 21:18:25 UTC https://padlet.com/clatham02202012/y31hqdg9u1rfiwda/wish/1831674555
