born and raised in the land of the rising sun, ironically, erina's life had never been in the sunshine. her mother died while giving birth to her and her father blamed her for it—big time. growing up with a person who resented her more than anything ended up in painful scars and bruises. she was constantly beat up and treated like she wasn't human. every single night she prayed to the heavens that he wouldn't come home but he did and the pain kept getting worse as the painful nights went by.

she stayed in their shabby home and served him—feeding him and cleaning up his mess. not once did she had the chance to enjoy her childhood. she wasn't able to play, socialize, and go to school.

at the age of fifteen, life shed a little hope in her. her grandmother loaned money, came, and picked her up from the slums. she saved her from her abusive father and brought her back to south korea.

erina's life had a complete shift from how it was.

she received love and attention. her grandmother treated her like princess and for the first time in her life, she knew how it was to be human. even while struggling in debt, erina now had a reason to live. her grandmother taught her how to read and write, eventually enrolling her in a public school. she studied diligently and eventually made it to the top of her class. she worked so hard to make her grandmother happy and she did. 

at the age of nineteen, her grandmother suffered a heart attack. her world crashed. the only person who saw her true potential...gone and never coming back again.

but she didn't falter. 

she lived for her. 

now, she's in her first year of college with a scholarship in hand. she's trying to make ends meet by having a part-time job as a library assistant.
