The Second Amendment says that each state needs a military or an army of citizens. They cannot take their rights to keep and bear arms.

Americans wanted guns to protect themselves from outlaws and American Indians. And people used guns for an every day life to hunt and protect their family’s. And almost everyone have had a gun because there were no police to keep everyone safe.

The Second Amendment protects your right to own guns. But people disagree about this topic. Many people who say this have been disturbed. They think only certain people should carry and own guns. And other people think that laws should not be in place to ban guns, just because people use them unfairly and they are misused.

Stops the government from making laws that take away basic freedom. In the early days people wanted freedom of religion. That’s why the pilgrims left England. But some American colonies made people attend one church. Now, we can choose to practice any religion we want. We can express what we want to say. We can say what we want to say about the governments laws. But a long time ago, you would get arrested for saying what you thought about the British laws. But, we have limits to free speech. If someone yelled “FIRE!” in a place where there is no fire. Someone might get hurt. We can write anything we want in the press. A while back, newspaper writers would get thrown in jail for complaints about British acts. But the press also has limits. They cannot lie about people.
