- Mitosis doesn't use new DNA, it uses what to already has nothing new is brought in. The limited genetic variation could result in errors in coping the DNA or external radiation damage.
- Meiosis introduces new DNA of two individuals which greatly increases the chances of genetic diversity.

Meiosis is a process that contributes to genetic variety. Meiosis doesn’t make body cells, it makes sperm and egg cells. Otherwise known as gametes. humans have 46 chromosomes. Human sperm and egg cells have 23 chromosomes. If a sperm cell has 23 chromosomes an egg cell has 23 chromosomes when they come together it becomes a total of 46 chromosomes.

Interphase- When the cell is growing, It’s replacing its DNA, it’s curing out so cell processes.

Interphase happens before meiosis starts. Because we tend to count chromosomes by the number of centromeres present, The 46 chromosomes duplicate, we will say there are 46 chromosomes because the sister chromatids are still attached and were counting by centromeres.
