SAVs are helpful not only for providing many organisms with shelter they also provide clarity in the water. They are a food sourcefor Zooplancton. They stablize bottom sediments. SAVs also obsorb wave energy and nutrients. As well as providing all underwater organisms with oxyen. Meaning without SAVs the structure of the ecosystem will have low chance of survival.

In the Pyramid SAVs are the producers, the base of the pyramid. Without the producers there would be no primary, secondary or teritary consumers over time, because they rely on SAVs to provide they with oxygen and shelter. Kcal stands for kilocalorie which is an amount of energy. Producers have the most energy therefor they have a more prominent role in Chesapeake bays ecosystem.
