To start, ELA isn't very hard, and you shouldn't stress about it. You only have around 2 big projects each quarter, and only about 1-2 essays through the year. In order to be successful, all you need to do is to try on the assignments and complete them. When you have to write, don't over think things. I know that sometimes when I write out answers for prompts, I found myself writing much more or stressing much more than I really have to. In general, this class, even though it is a honors class, is much less scary than it may seem, so don't be intimidated or stressed by it. In addition, to succeed in AHCCS in general, you should always pace yourself when doing work. While work in ELA may not be the most demanding, it will stack with other classes. Make sure to set goals everyday for what you are going to do, and try not to leave anything left over for the weekends. You will find yourself stressing a lot more if you leave work off for the weekends. You should finish off any extra work you forgot to do on Friday so you can relax on the weekend. When I chose my trip to Guyana, I thought about the things I learned on the trip. It made me consider the things I had in life that other people didn't. In addition, writing a descriptive story was also enjoyable. I enjoyed coming up with analogies and figurative language to create my story. While the book wasn't particularly hard to read vocabulary-wise, it was still very deep and emotional and made me think quite a bit about the legal system in America. To start, the unique storytelling in the book with the journals and cinematic perspective made the book more intriguing. The journals went very deep into Steve's mental and made me realize how distressed Steve was. In addition the story has lots of ideas that make me think, such as the idea that young black men are targeted more often by the legal system than other groups.
