Japan attacked the American fleet at the Hawaii naval base of Pearl Harbor. Motives for the attack were caused by previous deprivation of oil from Japan by America that Japan heavily relied on. Japan hoped to destroy the U.S. Pacific fleet so that Japan would have free reign in the Pacific. The Yalta Conference was a meeting of the Allied leaders which involved Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. This meeting took place in Yalta, Ukraine and it's purpose was for the three Allied powers to get together and discuss how to reorganize Europe after Nazi Germany was defeated once the war was over. Their goal was to come to an agreement on how to divide Europe. In the Battle of the Bulge, the main countries involved included the Unites States, Britain and Germany. This happened during winter in Ardennes Forest of Belgium.  The Allied countries had been pushing forward through France and had been working to free the region from Nazi control when Germany made a surprise attack on the Allies and were determined to divide the forces. Ultimately, the Allied nation and American soldiers were able to withstand their fight with a strong defense and gained victory. The battle consisted of the United Sates and Japan as America invaded the Japanese held island of Iwo Jima in hopes of taking over the island and its three airfields to use as a staging ground for the United States' attack on mainland Japan. The battle ended in victory for America and is considered important because prepared the way for the last and largest battle in the Pacific, called Okinawa, as well as after the battle, Iwo Jima served as an emergency landing site for more than 2,200 B-29 bombers, saving the lives of 24,000 U.S. airmen. The Fall of France (also known as the Battle of France) consisted of Germany and the Allied powers against France. Germany invaded the Low Countries and France, overran Belgium and the Netherlands, captured Paris, and forced the French government to surrender. This first started in the Ardennes Forest near southern Belgium. The Battle of France occurred so that France would be pushed out of their stronghold territory and Germany would gain greater control, expanding their superiority, as well as gain air supperiority in preparation for the Battle of Britain. Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviet troops in Auschwitz, Poland where Germany occupied it, the camp was in the town of Oświęcim. Germany's gaol was to destroy the British military and hearts of their citizens, forcing the British government to surrender. D-Day occurred in Normandy, France and involved Allied forced (U.S., British and Canadian troops), Nazi Germany, and France. The reason for invasion was to begin the liberation of France from Nazi control, disrupt Nazi supply lines, and to remove key Nazi defences in the region.. Allied forces landed on five beaches along the coast of France's Normandy region with a goal of pushing back the Nazi defences and opening the beach for Allied heavy weapons. The Allied forced suffered heavy losses due to Nazi's advantage of high ground as well as their preparation with heavy artillery, machine gun nests, and concrete bunkers, however, the Allie's attack worked and they were able to open the beaches further and bring in reinforcements. The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki involved the United States dropping two atomic bombs on Japan, one in Hiroshima and the other in Nagasaki. The United States goal was to end WWII and that's exactly what happened after the bombs were dropped and Japan was demanded to surrender. The Battle of Stalingrad was fought  between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in Stalingrad, Russia now called Volgograd. Nazi Germany planned to grow the German population by invading the Soviet Union and empty it of its citizens, using the land to harvest agriculture. Soviet citizens defended their home land and the Germans took a great defeat. The Battle of Stalingrad is viewed as Nazi Germany’s first major loss of its war effort in Europe as well as one of the largest and bloodiest battles in history, and the high point for Nazi expansion. The battle of Midway was major naval battle fought between Japan and the United States near the Midway Atoll (Hawaii) in the Northern Pacific Ocean. Japan's goal was to destroy the US Pacific fleet and remove them as a threat to the war in the Pacific. I think that the invasion of Poland by Germany was important because it was the starting point of WWII, had it not happened, when would it have started? Who  would have started it and why? Secondly, I believe that the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was important because it forced the United States into WWII. If the U.S. didn't enter into WWII then the Yalta Conference probably wouldn't not have happened (or at least the results may have turned out different if it did not include the U.S) and the Allied Powers could have consisted of different counties.
