DigCompEdu describes 22 competencies which are organised in six areas. These six areas are transformed into three Modules within the course Digitally Competent Educators.

Module 1 focuses on area 1 and area 5, the main goals of this module are the following:

In my work, I like to use interactive and reflective methods, often combining them with digital tools to make learning more engaging and inclusive. My goal is to continue developing my digital teaching skills and learn how to create meaningful learning experiences in both online and offline settings.

If I were teaching online, I would make reflection part of my routine. After each class, I would write down small observations, such as a student’s unexpected question, a tool that worked well or didn’t, or moments where engagement was low. These notes help me see patterns in my teaching and understand how my choices affect learners.

I would also ask for feedback from students and colleagues, because they often notice things I miss. Digital tools make this easier through polls, chats, or collaborative platforms.

Finally, I would challenge my assumptions about effective teaching. Quiet forums do not always mean learning is happening, and lively discussions might show deeper engagement. Reflection keeps me curious, flexible, and open to growth for myself and my students.

Exploring the DigCompEdu framework helped me take a closer look at my digital teaching skills and identify areas for growth.

In Digital Resources (4/5), I feel confident in selecting, adapting, and creating materials, though I want to experiment more with interactive and open resources to make learning richer.

Teaching and Learning (4/5) is another strength, with digital tools helping to engage learners, but there’s room to explore more personalized and adaptive approaches.

Assessment (3/5) is an area to develop. Designing online assessments and giving feedback comes naturally, but using analytics more effectively could better guide students’ progress.

Empowering Learners (4/5) reflects encouraging independence with digital tools, though fostering more collaboration and creativity remains a goal.

Professional Engagement (4/5) shows strong communication and collaboration, with potential to take on leadership in digital initiatives.

Facilitating Learners’ Digital Competence (3/5) highlights support for foundational skills, while guiding students toward higher-level digital literacy is a key focus for growth.

Overall, the aim is to integrate technology thoughtfully, reflect on its impact, and continue developing as a confident, adaptable educator who can empower learners in meaningful ways.
