I am amazed that people who have little resources, when compared to our resources in America, can do so much with what they have. I would have never of thought to use clay and sawdust as a filter for water. To be able to take these elements and create an item that filters dirty, undrinkable water into potable water is astonishing. It makes me take a second look at everyday objects and think if they can be used in a different, unconventional way in order to benefit others.

Watching these people hand make these Wafilters, which are so important to the human health, is truly humbling. I think as Americans we get so caught up in our daily ongoings, that we forget to be thankful for those who make our way of lives possible. We get to just go to the store and pick up these filters, while they have to hand make them from the Earth. Clean water is not as accesible to everyone as it is here, and I’m so impressed that they have developed a strategy that will help expand it to more communities. In high school, we had a “water festival” where we raised money to build wells in different parts of the world. It was always fun to attend because there were activities such as petting zoos, face painting and more, all while helping a great cause.

I have many questions about how the filter works. What toxins does it filter out? How does the ceramic help do that? How long does it take? I’ve been using a “ Brita Water Filter” system for a few years now, and would love to see how it compares to this more natural one. I would love to know how much funding this company has, and what ways we can help further succeed. Clean water should be a human right. “Thousands have lived without love, no one without water”.
