There is a commonality in the music however there is not a repeating over and over. I agree that he is right. There is more to music then someone just playing the same cords over and over. The song "Ain't it Funky Now"is a great example of repetition. You can hear the repeating of the sounds in the background but you never here totally the same thing. You can here a consistent beat over and over in the background. A great example of repetition is "Take Me Out To A Dancehall" by Pat Green. You can here a consistent beat and melody in the background of the song. There is a good mix of other noises within to keep it flowing.
