I found the whole process to be well explained and useful. Because of that I feel all the steps were essential, however I would say some of the earlier steps were integral to the improvements, while the later (such as looking at how to train staff) was more for the sake of the proposal to management. Being able to find the problem, find the solution and find out the risks were the most highly important factors.
