Montressor was envious towards Fortunato for an unknown reason. He was very sneaky in the way he lead Fortunato to the catacombs . Montrssor was  hesitant when Fortunato struggled in the chains and Montressor jumped back. He  was thoughtless towards Fortunate. For example, Montressor screamed back at Fortunate when he was building the wall. In the end Montressor killed Fortunato by trapping him in the catacombs.

As he speaks, more and more do the symptoms of a manic-depressant show. This vengeful man is an excessively introverted psychopath. As ominous as he may be, he is so manipulative that his fraudulent behavior hides anyone from his true self. His deceivious behavior misguides any unwitting victim such as Fortunato. As Montresor lifts the final brick into place, he is overcome by a mental heaviness that weighs it down as he comes to a realization at what he is doing. His heart becomes sick at the thought. However, denial overcomes Montresor in a wave that hits him as suddenly as a volcanic eruption. Hiding his sympathy and regrets, the final brick is pushed into place. Montresor tricks his friend and gets him to a deep underground area, also known as the catacombs and locks him up, and leaves him. In the first sentence, "The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge." This shows that Fortunato hurt Montresor and Montresor even says "...I vowed revenge." Showing he is revengeful. It can also be inferred that he's angry by the fact that he was hurt and wants revenge. It is seen that Montresor is calm because he was nit just attacking Fortunato and killing him franticly and carelessly. He is a man that has suffered a thousand injuries from Fortunato. He is mysterious. He is hiding all of his pain from the drunken Fortunato.
Montresor is filled with revenge and hatred towards Fortunato. For what he has done to Montresor. Montresor is  a psychopath. Fortunato was not aware of what Montressor was going to do, because they were good friends before. Foutunato was very sick, but he was so determind to go to the Amontillado that he wasn't caring about anything else that was going on. When Montressor locked up Fortunato, he thought it was just a joke and was waiting to be let free.

It all happens at a party and Fortunato was drunk, Montresor took advantage of him being in an unstable situation. Fortunato was having the time of his life, enjoying himself, and laughing. He thought it was one big joke. Drinking till he was sick, he was completely clueless to what was about to happen. Then suddenly, he was conquered.

His methods of persuasion for Fortunato were well thought out. The leading of Fortunato to the catacombs, while using alcohol to bring out one's ignorance to detail especially describes this. Some other ways Montressor can be described are psychopathic and unforgiving. This tale of retribution was sparked because Montressor was wronged by Fortunato. The fact that Fortunato's demise was death by isolation adds the impression that Montressor can not forgive. Even when Fortunato was screaming, Montressor payed little to no attention to. Montressor's mental stability and actions have bestowed him the connotation "psychopath".

Montressor was angry at Fortunato for an unknown reason . Being mysterious from the beginning ,Montressor had a sneeky plan to kill Fortunato . But his plan was crazy because he wanted to torcher Fortunato to his death. The story made him sound like he was going mad, and maybe he was, but we feel there is more to the story. Montressor took Fortunato down to the scary, dark, and gloomey catacomes. Where the air fiercly tugged at Fortunato's lungs because of his cold. He struggled to breathe more and more as they lowered into the abyss of the catacomes.

Montressor very SOMBER, sneaky towards Fortunado. Montressor uses reverse psychology to get Fortunado down into the RANCID, EERIE, WET catacombs of AFTERLIFE. Deeper and deeper they go. Fortunado very intoxicated shows no sign of frightfulness. FLAMBEAUS burning deep underground. Suddenly Montressor shoves Fortunado into the stoned wall and quickly chained him up. Montressor very rapidly started laying tier by tier of stone higher and higher. STRUGGLING with its weight Montressor heard a very DISTINCTIVE laugh followed by words of more laughter He Ha Ha .He slowly pushed the very last stone in place, then suddenly silence occured
