This is a useful game to revise vocabulary and practice oral skills.

One student is sitting on a chair, facing the other children and with his back to the board. The teacher writes a word in the board and the seated child has to guess it by listening the other students’ cues.

- Dived your groups up into 2 teams.

- Give out the football board game (pdf) and a paper ball. 

- Pile reading cards, flash cards or what ever you're trying to review (faced down) in the centre of the table.

- The first person from each team, faces one card up and races to say the word/phrase and the fastest person gets to advance the football for their team.  

- Once a team reaches the goal they get one point.

*Or you can just use the board, simply drawing the field on it and the ball. It could be a good choice to play with bigger groups or the whole class.

I show the vocabulary flash cards one by one and students say the name in loud voice. Then I take one and I stick it facing the blackboard. I show the flash cards again and they have to guess which one is stuck on the blackboard. Then they guess I begin again with one less flashcard.

At the end of the games all the flashcards are facing the blackboard and they have to remember all the names.

I have a cloth bag like the ones children use for bringing their breakfast to school. I put something inside the bag (it can be a plastic animal, a picture, a flashcard or whatever is useful according to the vocabulary or expression I want my students to revise). The game can have two versions:

-          I describe the object in the bag and children must guess what is it. They can ask me questions or use just the information I gave them. Once a student has guessed, he or she fills the bag and gives the clues.

-          I say nothing, and students ask me questions to guess what is in the bag. Once somebody guesses, he or she will be the one filling the bag and answering the questions.

This is an activity that everybody enjoys. I use it with students from grade 1 to 4.

This is an online game available at the British Council webpage. It encourages students to listen carefully to match the picture (a face) with the description the listen. It is a motivating game that suits different students’ levels because children can catch the whole description or just a part of it and guess the correct face. For this reason, you can use it with second or third graders as well as fourth graders. You can check the game here:

Student usually enjoy this game, I use it in primary one and two, and while one pupil draws on the blackboard o whiteboard, the rest have to raise his hand in order to guess.

I make them practice grammar structures such as "Is it a/an...?", "Yes, it is. No it isn't".

I use also flashcards with pictures, and at the beginning I show the picture to the one who's drawing, because sometimes they're shy at it, or they feel insecure about how to draw the object/animal ...
