I got around 3 times in my turn, but the technique is nowhere near perfect. Tomorrow I will focus on not falling out of my turn, and if I accomplish that I will begin to work on not hoping in the turn. Without the hops, not falling out of the turn, and a stronger spot (focus with your eyes) I will have a much stronger triple pirouette.

On the third day, I accomplished not falling out of my turn. However, I still continue to have the hop while i’m turning. To fix this I realized I need to be on a higher relevé (higher up on my toes), so I will work each day to eliminate more and more hops.

Although there is still some hoping involved, the technique of the turn is improving. I actually achieved a quadruple turn, instead of a triple, but that does not happen often. There was a lot more suspension because I was much more balanced on top of my leg. If I think about this while turning, it can continue to help with not hoping, which I will work on tomorrow

After today’s video, I’m beginning to see improvement. I only hopped once during my triple, which is getting closer to my goal to have no hops. Tomorrow I will continue to be on full relevé, as I explained in day 3. Also my spot could be better (focusing with your eyes on one object so you do not get dizzy).

Again today it looks as if I still do not have enough momentum. To fix this I will need to change how i’m starting the turn. More bending of my knees (plié) in my prep is going to help. Tomorrow I will work on that, the hop, and my focus as I mentioned in a previous post.

I had much more momentum today and my focus improved as well. In this video it looks like pulling my left shoulder around more will make my turn more successful, especially towards the end of it. The hop was not as big today, it was more that my relevé was not completely pulled up. If i’m higher up on my toes it will help me and allow for more than 3 turns.

I thought that my last post had a little too much momentum so I had just enough this time. This caused me to have a little more suspension in the turn, I was not falling hard out of it. My main goal for the last day is getting rid of that hop, it has been my biggest challenge. Also, if it’s possible, I’m going to try not to fall off to the side as much when I land. I need to keep my right side stronger.

Today was the final day and my turn is finally improved a lot. Of course, it’s not perfect and there is still a lot I can continue to work at. The hop is out of my turn which was a big obstacle for my during this challenge. I still can continue to keep my right side stronger and improve the technique of the turn.

From day 1 to day 10 I saw a lot of improvement for sure. On day 1 I only did a double pirouette, but on day 10 I had a triple pirouette down pretty good. I can apply what i’ve learned to class because I realized that even if something is challenging, giving up will get you no where. Trying new things opens up opportunities and being able to have a positive mind set helps a ton. During labs we will do, I know im going to get frustrated when the results do not come out correct. I have to remember this challenge and realize that if I work on small things at a time, the final outcome is much better. The experience of this challenge was really good and taught me new things that you wouldn’t think you could apply to a science class. I never would of thought that I could relate dance and biology in a project.
