You are always in dialogue with your students checking their potential whatever is meant by the word.I personally used surveys, questionnaires, quiz, just any form that includes questions( not to mention discussion) to collect data needed in everyday practice. I have never done a great thing out of it.

I have conducted an investigation in my classes regarding the use of authentic materials in class (newspapers, songs, films, videos). The students were more motivated to learn English because they saw the real purpose of it (it was nothing artificial, but worthwhile). Of course, there were some challenges, like the fact that the students didn't understand everything and wanted to give up.

In Romania, research-based learning is also called discovery learning. The students discover certain things on their own, then study the theory and the information is retained faster and for a longer time. I use this method quite often in class because it is effective, and the students have the pleasure of discovering for themselves what they are going to learn in class.

We use reseach / investigation in our daily basis in class. Working with children from 2/3 to 5/6 there's allways something emerging to investigate. Some interests are common to the entire group, some interests are individual or emerge from a small group. We discuss the subjects, draw a plan for what we want to know, where to research, divide tasks, when to work in the project and how to share it with others. My job as a teacher is to help with the research and sometimes add other subject to enrich the project. We all learn a lot! In Portugal, we can make our own curriculum at kindergarten and that's very important because it allows us to go further, meet the needs and specific interests of our children.

I teach at High School and I constantly guide my students to reflect ontheir learning process through metacognitive questions. I think this is a form of research.

I try to lead my students to have their own conlcussions both in History or Literatura. Also, investigating about their own town is so beneficial. The example is one investigation on the development of the urban landscape of my town over history using real and historical documents
