Fredrick Douglass was yet another famous civil rights activists who was known for his huge role in the abolishionist movement in Massachuetts and New York where he also gave pursuasive speeches and antislavery writings.

A sad thing is that Fredrick Douglass was separated from his mother like many other black children and he spent his early life under the care of his grandmother who took care of the Black children.

He served two terms and was general in the American Civil War and fough in the Battle of Shiloh, which was one of the bloodiest wars. Despite his battle skills he made pretty much no changes in his two terms and was known for being way too trusting and whatever he did ended up being ineffective. Before his death he had made a publication of his memoir helped him to pay off some of his debts.

He is very well know for losing to Hayes in their election by one vote.

Hayes goal in his presidency was to completely erase the line between the colors of the two races. A quote from him says, “My task was to wipe out the color line, to abolish sectionalism; to end the war and bring peace,”. However in 1878 he stated, “I am reluctantly forced to admit that the experiment was a failure.” One interesting thing about his presidency is that in a presidential election against Samuel J. Tildon, Hayes had 185 electoral votes while Tildon had 184, making Hayes win by just one vote.

A fun fact about her is that she taught herself how to read and right even though that was against the law, and eventually army official even asked her to run a school for former enslaved children.

Truth's most famous speech is "Ain't I a Woman?" shows the unique struggles of a black women in the society.
