Softball is a big part of who I am. I have been playing for around 12 years now. I first started at the age of 6 and have played non-stop after. I have gone through 4 travel teams, middle school team, and my high-school team. I have made so many friends and sisters from softball and will forever be grateful I got to play. Although I may be done with softball, it still has a spot in my heart.

For me culture is such a big thing about me and my life. I grew up with such a big family and always being around everyone. We have so many traditions that we follow and love doing them every year. I feel like it has impacted my life positively by being able to share such a strong culture to other people of another kind of culture. I will have to understand though that when I am working with children in the future, I need to focus on what children learn best with and what ways have they learned things because everyone is different depending on their cultures. So understanding children by their cultures when teaching is a very important thing.

My control and bias in my classroom was not the same as Mrs. Bailey. In my elementary classroom, my teachers were very on it about who was a top kid and who was not. My school would even have the top kids on stage in the cafeteria and have other students eat their food and watch. The students who were not the top students were often overlooked and misjudged for not being where the top students were.

Conditions that enable agency include removing physical and communication barriers, challenging stereotypes, and ensuring children can make their own choices about their bodies, education, and participation in society.

Gender roles did not affect how I played as a child. All of my cousins are guys and we grew up playing football outside all the time. They never viewed me as to delicate to play a rough sport with them. Even with my dad, when he would need someone to help heavy lift things or fix things, he would always ask us girls for help, with the yard even. I was never treated as someone who was delicate and someone who could not do certain things because I was a girl. I was treated the same as boys and even played with boy toys.

It made me feel included in the classroom community and involved with everyone. Some ways children can demonstrate civic action are sharing amongst one another, helping out around the classroom, and just being more involved with the teacher and peers.
