This is my second week learning German, and it was a very important one as I learnt more about verb conjugation. I watched a youtube video taking the verb "gehen" as an example to show how verb conjugation is done in German (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYsWgcKENkc). It was a short and helpful video. I also learnt the names of different countries in German, including my country, Egypt!

Woche 4

Week 4 was another very important week as I started to learn German numbers. I had no problems with numbers 1 to 11, but I had some difficulty with numbers greater than 11. However, after using quizlet to review all the numbers from 0 to 100, I am now confident with German numbers almost as I am with English numbers. I also learnt how to tell time in German, and it was really simple. Once you get the numbers, you could easily tell the time.

Woche 5

Week 5 was mostly about separable verbs ,adverbs of frequency and the names of food, while also reviewing German numbers. I initially had some problems with the sentence structure in the case of separable verbs, but after watching a short video on youtube, I understand it better (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEizjiqBrbI). I also practiced the names of food more by watching this youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nef5kSqmpes). Through watching this 10 minute video, I knew about a channel called Learn German. This channel has a playlist called Learning German for Beginners. I am certain that this would help me with revising and improving my German.

Woche 2

This is my first week learning German, and to be fair it was a bit overwhelming! I learnt how to introduce myself and had an introduction into verb conjugation. One thing I have noticed is how similar many words in German are to English. This would surely help me learn German faster. This does bring some trouble however, as some letters are pronounced differently such as z. This makes me a bit confused, but I am practising the alphabet regularly on quizlet using flash cards, so I will remember how all the alphabet is pronounced soon.

Woche 6

In week 6, we reviewed the names of food and drink, learned the articles der,die,das,etc, and learned about the nominative and accusative. We also started describing our families. I found it very helpful to make my own family structure in order to remember how each family member is named. I also learnt that the best way to learn about the different articles, nominative and accusative is to create a sentence and keep writing it down. I kept doing this with different sentences, and this helped me with conjugation and learning the genders of different words as well.

Woche 7

In week 7, we learnt the possessive articles (e.g. meine,deine,etc...) and possessions. As I did last week, I started writing different sentences using the possessive articles in order to practice. I also further reviewed my family tree in order to include more distant relatives for more practice. One of the many sentences I kept writing a couple of times in order to review possessive articles is:

Mein Hund ist groß.

Woche 8

Week 8 was a light week. We did not learn as much as the previous weeks, and the material itself was easy. We learned more about stating time, using words like "halb" and "vor" to state times like 7:30. We also learned how to express likes and dislikes. As usual, in order to learn new stuff, I started writing more sentences. Some of the sentences I wrote a number of times are:

Ich spiele nicht gerne Basketball

Ich spiele gern Fußball

Woche 9

Week 9 was the last week before Easter, and so I developed a revision plan during this week in order to make sure that I keep practising during Easter. In week 9, we learnt the modal verbs and the indefinite pronoun man. The modal verbs were a bit difficult to understand, which was why I went back to youtube, and specifically to the Learn German channel I mentioned before. They had a useful video on the subject. The indefinite pronoun man was even more confusing, as it basically meant "you" in English, so I did not see the need for it initially. However, I realised that you is not a literal translation, and so understood how to use the word.
