         <description><![CDATA[<div>Personally my biggest motivations are personal growth and making others happy. Especially in the past few years I have spent a lot of time working on myself; trying to figure out what I want out of life and how I want to grow. This has meant that when I am doing something that I feel helps me better myself, I feel fulfilled. This is an extremely motivating feeling and it makes me want to keep doing the job, whether that be school, internship, work, or within personal relationships. Another important motivation of mine is making other people happy. When guests are happy with their experience at a restaurant or hotel I am working at, it is extremely rewarding. I love seeing people happy and if I can be part of the cause for their happiness it is even more rewarding.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>Hotels have many ways they motivate their staff to enrich their employment journey. Please add to the forum your examples you have seen from previous experiences of ways hotels motivate their team members.&nbsp;</em></div><div>Some ways that hotels motivate their employees is with rewards for good work and punishment for bad work. For example, at the first restaurant I worked at there was a competition on Mardi Gras, the busiest day of the year for this restaurant. The servers were encouraged to compete in a costume contest and to sell as much as they could. This not only motivated the staff to be on their best performance that night, but it also increased employee morale. An opposite example of this is punishment for bad behaviour. For example, there were sometimes employees who would not be performing as well as they should have been in terms of sales and customer satisfaction, so they would sometimes be stuck working later shifts or their sections would be downsized, leading to less money for them.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In addition to a high quality of products and services, the definition of luxury has expanded to include multiple communication methods and a personalized experience. With the increasing popularity of social media communication for brands, hospitality businesses are expected to use them as a tool to communicate with their customers. When a hotel uses their own website, email, phone, social media, and booking sites with their customers they can give them a better customer experience. This can include feedback, mobile check in, paying and more. Now that every person has a cellphone in their pocket, it is an expected part of a luxury experience that there will be the appropriate communication methods. It is also now expected that when a customer pays for luxury they will receive a personalized experience. This can be features such as making note of guests' heating preferences so the room is at their ideal temperature before they even walk into the room, or accommodating strange guests' requests to the best of the hotel’s ability.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Unconscious Bias Questions</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>These questions are a good starting point to work on your own unconscious bias, but it will take more than just asking yourself these questions to make any real impact on unconscious bias. In my opinion the best way to challenge unconscious bias is to talk with people, especially ones from different backgrounds and with differing opinions than your own. For example, a person can think about their past experiences and education and how they might be influencing their bias, but they will never truly understand the extent of their bias unless they take the time to learn about the trait or culture they are biased towards. While I do not think these questions are the most effective strategy, it would still be good for more people to get into the habit of asking themselves these questions when meeting new people, or making decisions about people (such as hiring a new employee or choosing someone for a promotion). This will help bring the topic of unconscious bias more to the forefront of people's minds and can help people to catch their own bias so they can correct it.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
