The colour pallets she uses feels very gentle and soft the greens feel unusual yet safe and warm in a way i’ve never felt before. In the past i’ve mainly worked from film images and stills and i find that drawing quickly from films I watch and then layering them and making pieces like that has been something i’ve done a lot, it’s something I find very comfortable and it’s in the boundary of things I like to paint from as i don’t have to be particular. However with Antonia Showering’s work I really did struggle to paint and use a similar colour pallet as it was such a foreign thing for me and was not at all what i’m used to. when I do use colour its quite subtle and I find it hard to break out of a box and use certain colours for different things which is something I tried in response to her work.
