William is proud of his family’s place in New Zealand History. His father, John, was a translator for Chinese men on the Otago goldfields. His sisters and mother were involved in the fight for suffrage. His sisters Lena and Agnes signed the 1892 petition and his sister Minnie signed the 1893 petition underage. His sons Howard Cecil and Albert Peacock both served in the First World War.
