Throughout my college program for me I have completed three placements at child care centres from where I observed and implemented play-based learning strategies. Throughout my Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, I’ve deepened my understanding of child development theories (e.g., Piaget, Vygotsky) and their practical applications. During my placements, I observed how play-based learning fosters cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth. For example, I designed activities aligned with developmental milestones, such as sensory play for toddlers to enhance fine motor skills. A key takeaway is the importance of individualised support each child progresses uniquely, and my role is to scaffold their learning while celebrating their strengths.
