Brother of Poseidon and Hades. He lived in Mount Olympus. He was God of thunder and lightning. His symbols included a bolt, an eagle, a bull, and an oak tree. He was married to the Goddess Hera.
Poseidon- The brother of Zeus and Hades. The God of the sea. He carries a trident which was known to once be a fish spear. He also was the God of horses and droughts.
Hades- The God of the dead and king of the underworld. The oldest of the Titan brothers aka Zeus and Poseidon. He was feared by most of the Greek's, pushed away. There is 6 elements that make up an epic, and distinct an epic from a regular action piece:
-Legendary Hero
-Super Human Strength
-Involvement of the Supernatural
-Multiple settings
-Epic Writing Style
-Omniscient Narrator
     These epics have a very specific and special style, with very unusual supernatural events, such as dragons and demons fighting against super human heroes. These have an elevated style, which means they don't dwell on the little/ boring things in life.
     The earliest known epics have been traced back to the Sumerians, which is the preliterate heroic age (3000 BCE). It was between the Greeks and the people of Troy.
What happened?
They went to war for ten years before the Greeks retreated.  They left a large horse as a peace offering at the gates of Troy. They pulled it in and at night Greek warriors came out of the horse and attacked Troy from the inside.  They defeated Troy and saved the queen.  The queens two husbands at Troy died and she went home as well.  She reigned as queen again until the king Menelaus died and she was exiled onto an an island.
When did it happen?
It happened between the 13th and 14th century.  
Where did it happen? 
The Greeks traveled by boat to Troy to defeat them and save the queen.  They fought along the walls of Troy before getting inside with the horse. 
Why did this happen? 
This all happened because the Queen of Greece was "kidnapped" by the Prince of Troy, Paris.  They ran away together and married each other. When Paris was killed she married his brother,  Deiphobus.  Queen Helen then betrayed him when Troy was captured and went back to her old husband   Menelaus who is King of Greece. They only fought because they thought she was kidnapped when really she was running away with Paris. She betrayed many people but was exiled after the king died. She was put on an island and died there.

Homer was a Greek poet born between the 12th and 8th century BC. He is famous for his poems The Iliad and The Odyssey. These poems had a huge effect on the western culture, but there is little to no knowledge on the poet himself, Homer. No one actually knows if Homer was a real person or not, some believe these poems were made by one man, and others think the poems were made up by a group of people. Homer's style is either minstrel poet or balladeer, and his stories are very repetitive. 
What was The Iliad?:
The Iliad was an epic poem by Homer that recalls some of the events of The Trojan War and the Greek city of Troy. The Iliad is considered to be one of the earliest works in the western literary tradition. The Iliad expresses war, fate, glory, and wrath, the Greek Gods and Goddesses, and provides a great influence on other Greek, Roman, and Renaissance writings. 
What was The Odyssey?
The Odyssey was an epic poem by the great Homer and was a branch off of the poem The Iliad. The Odyssey focuses on the Greek hero Odysseus and his journey home after the fall of the Greek city Troy. Odysseus had a long journey and encountered many places and things along the way before reaching Ithaca which was his home.
