Themes can be divided into two categories: a work's thematic concept is what readers "think the work is about" and its thematic statement being "what the work says about the subject".

Metaphor- A metaphor is a figure of speech that, for rhetorical effect, directly refers to one thing by mentioning another.
Simile- A simile is a figure of speech that directly compares two things.
Personification- The attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.
Irony- The expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
Symbolism- It is the practice or art of using an object or a word to represent an abstract idea.
Sarcasm- When an individual is sarcastic or ironic, he or she is expressing a sentiment but intending the opposite.
The reason it's important is because Figurative language can transform ordinary descriptions into evocative events, enhance the emotional significance of passages, and turn prose into a form of poetry.
