One of the articles I looked into was about children being isolated away from their parents for two weeks due to COVID-19. This video is about children being separated from their parents for months and sometimes they aren't even reunited. Being taken away from your parents at a young age could have serious effects on children and leave them traumatized as the video stated. Zayas also looks into the crisis of families being separated at the US-Mexico border. Parents are coming to the border to seek refuge into the US after fleeing from horrible situations. The US denies them entry most of the time but take the children and the parents hope they get to live a better life. The kids are put into immigration detention where they are treated like their lives do not matter. I chose this book to read while doing my research because it dives into the life of a separated family which is important to see.
