This is the social media page that I manage. (Please be gentle!)
I never think that what I create and post is perfect. I always want to improve. I'd like to point out the pros & cons of this social media page.
Pros:
1. Organized
2. Cute and inviting
3. Succinct but also informative

Cons:
1. Profile photo is boring and not descriptive (it is the logo for the hospital).
2. There needs to be a better link (I do not like that it says "Linktree" but I do not know what else to use to include all the other links that I want available).
3. The name is actually "The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood" but this title won't fit into the character count for Instagram. I think this is misleading and confusing for clients. They most likely try to search the actual name but maybe they cannot find the IG page. I feel that this looks bad for the hospital. I want to be able to title the page with the entire, official name, but I cannot make IG work for me! Does anyone have any ideas? Am I thinking to much into it?

This is the Face Book page for a local restaurant, I think that their page is done very well. It has an eye-catching picture of some of the food (don't those ribs make you hungry?) it has the address, phone number and other links to their website you can find pictures of their menu and pictures of other menu items. I do feel that this social media post could use more attention I don't know how well they monitor it, the pictures of their menu contain old prices ( prices all over have gone up and its a surprise to see that the menu in the restaurant and web prices don't match) and there are a few pictures of food items they no longer serve.

So this was a local restaurant for my area that had everything going for it. It had great social media reviews through yelp and was even featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives winning the Guy Fieri seal of approval. They kept up with their on-line presence but then they got ahead of themselves. While they were doing good at their current location they still were not getting a huge profit coming in. They thought that a new location would give them better customer access but did not get an on-line assessment from their current following. They decided to move anyways and opened up in a hard to park building, but it was easy to see from the road. This building cost more for them to rent though and the new location caused them to lose their current loyal customers. No matter what people were saying on-line, they could not manage to get enough customers in consistently to afford the new location. This made them fail quickly and forced them to recess all the way back to being a food truck to stay alive.

This is my favorite local vape shop. These guys have excellent customer service, they are super friendly, helpful, and always go above and beyond. Their Instagram page is very practical and informative, but it really only shows the products they offer and nothing else. There are a lot of vape shops in Denton and this page doesn't really communicate their strategic advantage or other great benefits of choosing them as your local vape shop. Something they could do to really communicate who they are as a vape shop is to post more variety. A local coffee shop I love frequently post pictures of their products but also fun holiday pictures, pictures in and outside the store, as well as posts about the employees to give customers more connection to their brand and staff. Bombay could post more visually interesting pictures of the products to draw people in, pictures of their cool environment with the pool table, TVs, and comfortable seating, they could also post pics introducing the team that works there.

I find myself searching for thrift stores near me especially when out of town so that's what brought me to searching for a local store. The picture for the cover photo was not intriguing one bit . The company does not keep current status or shares of exciting news. I know the focus for the last month was to have viewers notice they moved location but not sharing any updates does not make me want to shop here. Comparing to other thrift store sites, I was more drawn to other weekly sales or coupons that were displayed. I noticed months ago they did a great job showing unique items for sale but now I am realizing how important it is to stay current with pictures and such. I would of quickly went with another option if I was trying to find a local thrift store to explore.

This is a local sneaker store in my area back home. I chose this sneaker store because it has a bunch of hype and makes a lot of money. So, with the popularity I will be able to find some flaws on their social media site. Their social media site is mot a bad site but I do have a few problems that stand out to me. They show you the current sneakers that they have each day and that's good and all but what they don't show you is each available size that they have or the quantity of the sneaker, so they are forcing you to come into their store. Also, they aren't really active throughout the day with posting what's new or what has been sold. I've heard of people wanting to direct message them about so shoes but I've heard that they never replied. So in order for them to fix some of these problems I feel as if they can hire or have someone who works strictly on the social media site to take care of all these problems.

I chose this page because I like the style of the page and feel it reflects the aesthetic of the shop when you walk in. If I were to give feedback, I would recommend adding a section on their storyboard for customer testimonials. They have a lot of regulars, and their drinks are unique and delicious, so sharing those positive reviews would look good for the business! They post quite a bit about the products for their home store, but not a lot about their coffee bar. I would recommend posting more pictures of their menu! They do have a link in their bio to their online ordering website, but I think seeing pictures in their feed or stories would incentivize clicking the link or visiting the store.

Here is my assignment for social media effects on business: What Can Social Media Provide For A Local Small Business?

1. Enhanced communication with customers to keep them engaged

2. Ability to respond and make up for negative experiences

3. Ability to share and update information about products and services easily and regularly

4. Platform to advertise (you can pay to push your page to target audiences’ feed)

5. Easily link website or online store to page allowing fluid navigation for users

6. Being able to observe and engage with changes to the wants/needs of the target audience

7. Being able to interact with and provide value to customers outside the bricks and mortar structure.

8. Analyzing competition to manage competitive approach

9. Using people with large followings as opinion leaders to push your product through their content (can be done through a paid advertisement, sending them free products to review, product placement, etc.)

10. Sharing the success stories, testimonials, behind the scenes, or other exciting things your business is doing

How Can Social Media Harm A Small Local Business?

1. Failing to respond to customers or neglecting the page can make a business seem disorganized or poorly run.

2. Having too many negative reviews circulate social media can hurt a company significantly

3. Posting controversial or offensive content can push customers away, or even provoke them to attack the company in some way.

4. Competition can dominate the space, pushing a less developed page to the backburner and giving them a competitive advantage

5. Although most people use social media, there are demographics that are less comfortable with it. If these demographics are your target audience, it might not make sense to put a ton of resources into social media.

6. Once a mistake is made, it is hard to overcome it. There is a saying “The internet never forgets” and it is very true!

7. Nobody likes to be bothered with too many ads from a company, so balancing the content you send out is important.

8. Employees posting on their personal pages can affect the way the company looks in affiliation. If employees are posting inappropriate content related to the business, it can affect the way people view the business.

9. Social media accounts are not the most secure, although they are getting better. Things like setting up two-factor authentication, strong passwords, or other measures help, but are often neglected. A hacker could be devastating to a business as they could do significant damage with the control of a business’s social media.

10. If the “personality” or style of your social media page is not tasteful, it could lose credibility for the company. For example, if a security company was posting a bunch of goofy, comedic content, it might make the brand seem less credible, like they don’t take their job seriously. On the other hand, if a kids party venue like Chuck-E-Cheese only posted serious and bland content, they might seems like a less-fun place to go.

This is a very poplar shoe and clothing store that is located in the mall of Fayetteville, NC which is where tons of people come in shop every single day. This is located in the center of Fayetteville so people that aren't from the area often stop and check out what our mall has to offer. This store has been around for about two years and I noticed that they don't even have a website only two social medias which is Instagram and Twitter! I think that its cool that they have those platforms but not to have a website is very bad. I say that because older people like my dad enjoys wearing and buying nice shoes but he doesn't have those social medias so he wouldn't know what they sell or if they have any sales going on without going into the store. Also by them not having a website it is a disadvantage to them because people that are traveling in and stop at the mall they might not go check this store out because it doesn't pop up on the cross creek malls website. I believe that if they get this fix their business can blossom even more!

This is Ioli's a great pizza place that is popular near us in Carmel Valley, California. I picked this restaurant because we consider it a hidden gem due to the lack of an online presence. Their website is one page with their menu and contact information, while it doesn't look bad, it is very lacking. It is so lacking that it doesn't even have a single picture of pizza on it! Their facebook is unused, the last post is from 2 years ago. I can not find an instagram at all for them. Another big thing I noticed is there is no way to order online- only a phone number to call. The one positive I saw is they have a good number of reviews on google that they definitely should be emphasizing.

What can social media provide for a small local business?
1. connection to customers
2. free advertisment
3. community
4. reviews
5. photo sharing
6. easy news sharing
7. bigger outreach/audience
8. communication
9. creativity
10. easy to create events

How can social media harm a small local business?
1. bad reviews
2. The issue they have is their social media accounts and their clerk answering phone calls, it's very hard to get set up and in touch with them, so you can show all the training you want, but if you don't respond or answer the phone how are you going to get new clients and kids for the future or to keep your business going , i would definitely improve the social media and contacting process.

This is a shoe store located in Newport News, VA in Patrick Henry mall that attracts a lot of people as they travel and pass through. It’s an area that is close to VA beach so as people go on vacation this is a shopping area and terrorist place that is highly found to be attended to. The store opened recently in October of 2021 and they only have a Instagram account for social media. There is no official website at all over the web that people could look at and shop on. I feel if they had a website it would make things more accessible for everyone and create more attention to them as well especially for those who do not have social media profiles but love shoes. Also as people travel they would want to see the rating of the place before wasting their time going there and have low or high quality when they could have seen everything on the website. With the social media profile is cool and all but it could definitely be expanded if they made a website and I feel it could easily happen and get fixed.
