The ability to communicate is fundamental to everything a designer does. Designers have to be able to articulate their ideas and concepts to employers and clients with ease and fluently. In addition graphic designers need to be able to write well organized briefs, proposals and instructions.

Creativity. A graphic designer should be lucid about discovering and producing the picture that other people are trying to express with words and desire. The picture may not always be clear at first, but this is where creativity stands out and they create the perfect piece.

Project Management. A lot of designers consider being organized sufficient, but on larger projects it really helps to have a grasp of project management fundamentals. Bath Spa - UG Graphic Communication
Entry Requirements:
  • A Level -  Grades BCC including Grade B in Art & Design or Graphics or related subjects preferred. 
  • BTEC -  Extended Diploma grades Merit, Merit. Merit (MMM) in a related subject in addition to other qualifications or evidence of experience in Art.
  • International Baccalaureate - A minimum of 27 points will be required in addition to a HL Art subject at grade 6 and evidence of further experience in Art & Design. 
  • Access to HE courses - Typical offers for applicants with Access to HE will be the Access to HE Diploma or Access to HE Certificate (60 credits, 45 of which must be Level 3, including 30 at merit or higher) in addition to evidence of further experience in Art & Design. 
The website reccomends that applicants undertake a pre-degree foundation diploma in Art and Design aswell as the qualifications. But it says that it's not necessarily needed.

Course fees - £9,250 per year & £160 material fees.

If I am living in Bath, away from home, I could receive a maintenance loan of up to £8,430.

Graphic Design BA(Hons)
Entry requirements:
  • Between 104 and 120 UCAS points for entry to undergraduate courses, primarily from Level 3 equivalent qualifications such as A levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma or a Foundation Diploma.
Course fees - £9,000 full time
Housing prices are averaged around £115 per week around the Falmouth area and maintence loans are just over £8,000 a year.
