Traffic jams cost money to find solutions solve the recurring problems, and thus impact the government’s savings negatively. This also reduces productivity, which leads to less money coming in by the working class, lowering the country’s value as a whole. Traffic congestion can make a country less attractive to businesses and investors and hinder economic growth. Employees arriving late to work due to traffic jams can disrupt workflow and reduce overall output. Businesses, especially those reliant on just-in-time deliveries, face increased costs and potential losses due to delayed shipments and missed deadlines. This may possibly cause the business to lose a deal or a bargain, affecting profits of that company and investments into it. Idling in traffic increases fuel consumption, raising transportation expenses for individuals and businesses.

Due to traffic congestions, roads need to be built in order to improve accessibility between locations. Natural vegetation has to be cleared to build roads. Road developments can divide forests into smaller fragments, reducing the size of animal habitats and restricting animal movement. When animals try to cross busy roads to get to the other side of the forest, they become victims of road kill after they collide with vehicles.

Traffic congestion can greatly impact and inconvenience people stuck in it as it can waste their time and affect their physical and emotional well-being. Due to long periods of time spent travelling, it may tire out commuters and cause irritation in both drivers and passengers. It can cause drivers to display aggressive behaviour and lose concentration and their temper, increasing the risk of traffic accidents, further contributing the traffic congestion.
