I now am able to do many things that Spanish I was not able to teach me. The most obvious thing is I am not able to talk about the past using Spanish. I am able to use the preterite and imperfect to help me express my idead. I have also learned how to talk about many things that I learned in Spanish one in much more detail such as school, my house, my family, my free time, my shopping experiences, my community, my house and many more! I also learned how to give basic commands. The commands we learned were called Tû commands and they were very basic. Conjugation in the preterite and imperfect can be quite confusing at first but after you get the hang of it it is quite easy. The thing that involves the most expert knowledge of when and where to use preterite vs imperfect is in stories. We learned how to tell a story about the past in this course. In describing the scene of a story you use the imperfect but for the action you use the preterite. In Spanish, everything is much more standardized. There are not many exceptions to grammar rules except for some irregular verbs but there are not a crazy ammount. The English language is much more complex than the Spanish language because there are not as many rules that apply to every situation everytime. It is extremely hard to do plurals in English but in Spanish it really isn't that hard. I think that saying commands is probably one of the only thing that is easier in English but that is just my opinion. Also, in English the adjective goes before the noun while in Spanish it goes after the noun. The first and most important one is that it is very different than the typical image of a Spanish speaking culture that one would have because it is surrounded by European countries and is not a latin country. I really loved learning abut the art in this class. Salador Dali is one of my favorite artists so I liked to get to hear more about him. I also liked learning about the food. I am so used to Latin American food being associated with the Spanish language that it was interesting to here about how food is in Spain. I was also ver intrigued by flamenco music. I think that flamenco is very fun to listen to. I explored flamenco music a bit more and watched some videos on it and it was so fun! The colors in all of the clothing is so exciting! I also loved hearing about the activities people do there. The things that people do there are very similar to the things that people in the US do except I feel like there is a bigger emphasis on sports, especially soccer. I would one day like to take a trip into Latin America so if I knew Spanish well that would really help me get around. I really think that not only would be interesting but it would also help me learn about the culture a bit more. This class was so hard for me and it is the worst score I have ever gotten in a class. I think I need hard deadlines more frequently for me to stay motivated. I feel that if I did Spanish in the classroom I would have done much better because I feel like I take tings in the classroom more seriously. Now I know that in college I should never attempt to take an online course because I probably will not do well. His videos really helped me grasp concepts that were hard for me. When I watched one of his videos on the preterite and the imperfect it really helped me improve my skills in this course. Reading the daily announcements also really helped me learn a lot in this course. Those were definitely the most helpful thing offered. They were one of the few things that I actually kept up with in this course and im thankful for them. I think if I continue to learn Spanish in the future I will need to actually spend time earning instead of doing it all in the last minute. I feel like I could actually do well if I put more time into it. They were very fun! I loved learning about a different culture. I will say that Spanish One had a much more interesting cultural portion but that is just my opinion. Even though Spain isn't my favorite place in the world I still had a good time learning about it. I also was okay with learning about tú commands. They were very fun to learn about and it was fun to make my video on the 5/6 project.There were lot of things I did not like in this course but the peak of it all was the preterite and imperfect. They both really confused me and it took me forever to grasp. I regret taking this course because it was so hard for me to grasp that concept and it destroyed my GPA. She always gave me good resources and always would text me offering support. I think that if it was not for my teachers help I would not have succeeded so I am very thankful. The only thing about my teacher that I think was a struggle for me was the way the grading was done seemed a little erratic. I there was a more standardized method or a bit more explanation as to why I got each grade I got that would have been helpful.
