1- I would prefer using both authentic and inauthentic materials in my own classes. It may depend on my sts' needs, level and the purpose of the lesson.

2 One of the things I learnt today is what exactly authentic and inauthentic materials are and how and when we should carry out them in classes. When I take account for the stages of a listening course, I usually do in that way. That's why it is straightforward for me to handle them.

1- What do you consider the most common problem in your district related to teaching speaking in language classes ?

Quite honestly, there is no just one problem in my district. First of all, even though my sts have advantage that they are bilingual, most probably they are one of the groups having the least background knowledge. Secondly, they are not sufficiently competent in their L1. Sometimes, they have difficulties to catch what the adresser says up. Another problems are that they lack motivation and the fear of making mistakes. In order not to make mistakes and feel mocked, they do not take risks and try to speak in L2. In such cases, teaching speaking is becoming a little bit demanding.

2- The ideas and suggestions I took away during the lesson are an effective way to promote speaking skills and engage sts in the lessons. Lastly, we can encourage them to speak in L2 far more easily than we actually do.

1- What idea about writing instruction do you think would be the most useful/ appropriate in your local context ? Why?

I think the most useful idea is snack writing. It is not complex to write it, for it does not take a long time and sts can feel themselves in comfort while writing. There is no limitation and they can use more figurative and idiomatic expressions.

2- I think they would be interested in the types of writing that are product, process, snack writing. Especially they'd like to implement snack writing into their classes, for it is time-saving and easy to handle it.

DAY-6 ABOUT GRAMMAR

1- What ideas about the grammar session do you think would be the most useful and appropriate in language classrooms in your area ? Why ?

What the most significant is that I could make the methods clear in my mind. It means that in what ways I can use them to teach grammar. For example, teaching implicitly is usually recommended; however, explicit one can work more in especially classes focusing on YDT exam while teaching complicated grammatical patterns such as, Relative Clauses, Noun Clauses.

Another point useful is that we worked on concept checking questions. I have already asked CCQs when I make a grammar teaching in my own classes. Fortunately, even though my sts don't have a adequate competency, they have worked so far. Today, I learn and practise how I am able to do this in a large extent. To make the use and usage of the target grammar structure clear, I grabbed how effectively I can use CCQs. This enables that the lesson becomes more student centered.

2- In my area, sts' level are quite low. That's why my colleagues would discuss what activity would be appropriate in which step when they consider the sts' knowledge and levels. Sts can be supplied with restricted and guided activities more to get the point. And finally, the issue to prioritised is implicitly teaching. In fact, teaching implicitly does not require to take risks for teachers especially in such disadvantaged areas. We should mostly focus on how we can make the ways of implicitly teaching common among teachers.

The greatest benefit of being in a PDC for my colleagues in my local context is sharing. It is like a trickle down effect, that is from the smallest part to a larger one. I have been learning how to be a facilitator and what to do along the way. When I am back in harness, I help them get ideas about the procedures and activities and implement into their classes.

In fact, I am planning to utilise the methodological knowledges that my trainer has pointed out and put them into practice. Secondly, what other thing I will use in my PDC meeting in my area is the teachniques and experiences whose my colleagues have faced to in their real classes.
