The Da Vinci Code follows symbologist Robert Langdon and cryptologist Sophie Neveu after a murder in the Louvre Museum in Paris, when they become involved in a battle between the Priory of Sion and Opus Dei over the possibility of Jesus Christ having been a companion to Mary Magdalene. The book refers to The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. The novel explores an alternative religious history, whose central plot point is that the Merovingian kings of France were descended from the bloodline of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene.

conclusion

In conclusion, I feel as though the film was a great adaptation of the book. The movie had less detail, but didn’t have any major differences to affect the plotline of the movie or book. The movie presented the basic idea of the book and did a good job of portraying the book on the big screen. It kept major key components and ideas found in the book as an effort to fully understand the story that was trying to be told without changing the main goal. Yes, once the book was read, it bothered me to rewatch the movie with less detail, character background, and history, which to be honest made the movie feel a bit empty. I still enjoyed both the film and the novel but felt like I was still craving more content after the film where for me the novel felt more complete.
