We were able to manage learning the dance in a very shorty span of time but crowd management could have been a little better. Plus the event was considerably quite short but I would say the decorating the school was a reasonable hit. The dispersion was a slight disaster. But I bet all of us learned something it might range anywhere from getting better at communicating with the kg student, to coordinating a huge number of people and making sure everything was in order

                                                                 ~Nethra

The Pongal event was a collaborative work done by the whole of grade 10 with many taking initiative to plan the event and other to organise. We got to work together and understand and share ideas with others in order to complete the task. More over we had to be responsible because we had to manage the crowds students from all the grades and accompany them into their classes after the completion of the event. Although the crowd management part could have been better from our side, after this event we now know the things that had gone wrong or not been up to the mark.

~ Dhakshyan

The Pongal celebration was a learning experience for us all. It required us to work together regardless of which section we belonged to. We learned how to responsibly manage every detail of an event including learning an entire dance choreography in a limited time period. Our crowd management could have been more organized and streamlined especially with the younger students, but handling this event allowed us to see what went wrong and could have been better and we aim to correct this in the next event.

~Sreenidhi

This was an entirely new experience where everything had to be organised by us. Subsequently, we were held accountable for any err as well, which significantly helped us spot our flaws:

In our attempt of easing communication, representatives for each class were assigned and despite it being far less chaotic than our previous celebrations, we couldn’t perfect it as a lot of people were out the loop. We need to learn how to fix that.

Furthermore, taking charge in an appropriate manner for our respective grades proved to be a difficulty. That requires to be changed as well.

During the decoration part, it all felt far too rushed and not many people were able to take part in it. It also lead the result looking a bit incomplete. However, it still upheld.

A lot of people were nervous to take the stage and didn’t voice their opinions, especially since this was our first activity in such roles. That made us miss out on some beneficial input.

We need to and will work on these above points in the upcoming activities

-Portia

The planning for the Pongal celebration was different because we had never planned to this large of a scale before. There were some ups and there were some downs. I felt like the coordination between he DP-1 and AS students was on point. However the coordination between us and the older MYP students could've been better. Yes, the celebration got over in an instance but that can be fixed by either adding more performances or by increasing the run time of existing ones. Bringing each grade to the field was fine, but like I said earlier there needed to be slightly more cooperation with the older grades. Dispersal was a little hectic but we got it done at the end. So cooperation is key when working with other grades and I felt there wasn't much. This is all something we learn from and I can say for sure that we are all working on it at the moment.

-Saidarahas

This is a new experience for me. The Pongal celebration was probably the most properly coordinated event that the 10th, now 11th grade made will only a little amount of planning. The dance performance was the most cooperative activity that we managed to pull off. The crowd management was a little disordered and some might say a little chaotic. But in the end, everything worked out okay. The celebration was not an easy feat. But with time, in the future, our events will be more satisfying to organize.

~ Vishal M.

Celebration was alright but a few things to reflect on was

The entire floor I was on was uncoordinated as none of us were communicating regularly within each other. This lead to the entire floor being jammed, going back and forth to the stairs without confirmation that we could move.

Some of us didn’t have concrete control over our grade with only a small bunch of kids actually following instructions. This was still partly due to the above reason as they got (slightly) visibly irritated at the sight of us oscillating up and down the stairs. We even waited on the stairs for around 15-20 minutes due to the jamming problem.

I believe this only comes with practice but it was a fun and nice event.

— Achyuth

Overall the event was an hit with some minor hiccups here and there such as the lack of ability to maintain the decorum in the lower grades and uncoordinated crowd control lead to an unpleasant experience for some pupils.

The events were well planned and carried out again with tiny imperfections due to lack time for practicing and rehearsing but, this I think can be improved over time as we get ropes of handling events in a short period of time.

Other then this the event well done and I hope to play a contributing hand in such events in the foreseeable future.

-Samyukth Gogineni
