January 5, 1957 - Eisenhower Doctrine Was Enunciated

The Eisenhower Doctrine was a policy stating that if a country was being attacked/ threatened by another country, they could get economic assistance and or aid from US military forces. This helped save a lot of countries that were about to be overtaken by communists.

August 13, 1961 - The Berlin Wall Was Built

Soviets took over East Germany and built a wall as a symbol of division caused by the Cold War. The West was thriving with the help of the Americans but in the East, people became poor and it felt claustrophobic.

1945 - The Division of Korea

The US agreed to split up North Korea with the 38th parallel, American troops in the South, and Soviets in the North. The Americans supported the South as they wanted to contain communism, this later led to the Korean War.

1953 - The creation of the demilitarized zone

A fight against North and South Korea surrendered as the bloody fight between them became too much for them to bare. A demilitarized zone was put near the 38th parallel where military and armed forces are forbidden to maintain peace between the two.

October 4, 1957 - Sputnik was Launched

The Soviets released the first-ever satellite into space. Later on, marked the start of the Space Race. They realized that both the US and the Soviets had the capability of destroying each other's satellites, scaring the world into thinking that nukes and bombs were going to be launched.

November 25, 1947 - Hollywood 10 blacklisted

Hollywood stars got caught in potential communism putting them on a blacklist to prevent them from having a job and working. Communists started to affect movie productions by putting their ideas within the movies and using famous actors to project these ideas subtly.
