My dreams give me a chance to notice things about my life that are important, and that I probably miss during the day when I'm awake.

Santiago realizes that his purpose in life is to pursue what he wants, but he takes a long time to figure out what he wants and works hard towards it, even if he strays a bit. I connect to this because I have a hard time imagining my future or what I want in life, but I recongnize that I have options and time and I have the ability to realize any dream that I might have.

The ideas of Omens in the book is taught to Santiago from the King of Salem, said to be signs of the universe 'guiding' one to their personal legend. One of the first examples of an Omen in the book is when Santiago sees a butterfly, guiding him on his journey.

Dreams are a reoccurring theme in The Alchemist, starting with Santiago's dream of travel, being a Shepard, Egypt, treasure, and leading into others dreams--such as the shop owner, and most likely we will soon see the dream of the alchemist in full. I don't remember my dreams a lot, but when i do they stick in my head for a long time. Kind of like a story i made in my head without even meaning to.

Santiago comes to the realization that his life purpose is to do what he wants when the tea crystal guy talks to him. It takes him a while to realize this but even if he strayed a little bit, he finds his path eventually. I can relate to this because I still dont know where I want to go to college or what I want to do when I grow up, so hopefully eventually I will find what I want to do.

Omens are a recurring theme in the book, as they keep returning when Santiago is losing his purpose in life. Urim and Thummim in the story tend to appear when Santiago is starting to overthink, or consider other options, like when he spotted his old shepherd bag and they fell out, making him remember his real dream and to follow it. My connection to this theme is how I follow where the wind takes me, and I believe that my opportunities will present themselves.

The theme about omens shows up in the book a lot. When the word omen first comes up is with when he talks to the old king and he tells Santiago about to follow the omens. This connects with my life is seeing the omens in my life to reach my personal legend and to really think about what it means.

Santiago has been told by the old man that his life purpose is to find hidden treasure in the Egyptian pyramids. This has become a big motive for Santiago as he continues to work hard at the crystal shop, inspiring new ideas and cleaning the shelfs to earn money to then travel to the pyramids to find potential treasure. The experience Santiago had from everything going down hill from the first friend he met at the bar ending up stealing his money, to the acquiring free breakfast one of the market workers gave him, then to his connection with the crystal merchant and standing by him as he watched the merchants shop grow, is all apart of his personal legend because it is his journey full of regret, perseverance and happiness working toward who he is meant to become. I connect to this because I struggle accepting that one bad thing that happens to me doesn't determine my future and that i am still young and have time.

Dreams are constantly involved in the story from as early on in the book he was having dreams of being at a field with his sheep to dreams of getting the treasure. I think they are all very important and It connects to me because dreams are story's with no explanation. If I can remember a dream it will it will stick to me and make me wonder more. dreams are so random and sometimes have a exact copy of my life and I would need to make sure if that didn't happen in real life.

A Personal Legend is something that Santiago took a long time to figure out. He eventually realizes that his purpose is to life the life he wants to live. I can connect to this because I feel like at this point of my life, I don't have a future plan set in stone. Rather I am just waiting for a opportunity.

The theme of dreams shows up in the book when Santiago dreams of the Egyptian pyramids, or the Crystal merchant dreaming of going to mecca. The only difference is that Santiago follows his dreams, becoming the reason behind his journey while the Crystal Merchant only wants to live in his dreams, fearing disappointment when finally achieving them.

I relate to the Crystal Merchant, fearing disappointment a lot of times, so I never dream anymore. If we're talking about night dreams, then I rarely dream during the night anymore as well.

Santiago talks a lot about personal legends, he feels that everyone in the world has their own and that they all work towards it in someway even when they don't know it. The personal legend that Santiago is working towards shows up in a dream but he remains skeptical about what it means, it is then confirmed by the king to be something he cant avoid and needs to do it is his personal legend. I relate to this by his ability to overthink his personal legend when he is choosing to become a Shepard again or go to the treasure. I often choose the unfamiliar option instead of something that I've done multiple times.

Santiago's dream of traveling in the Egyptian pyramids was a constant struggle to for him to gain the courage to move towards achieving him dream. Santiago also met a man who owned a crystal shop who had lost his dream of traveling to Mecca. I have accomplished dreams I had when I was younger, changed my dreams, and enhanced my dreams. Dreams are ever changing and some take more precedence than others.

Realizing your personal legend is constantly mentioned in The Alchemist, in fact, I think it's the whole entirety of the book; Santiago is trying to realize his purpose in life. I feel the need to mention this, but I think the other characters like the robber, the tea crystal merchant, and the crystal merchant were a way to motivate Santiago to continue working his way to his purpose, even if things throw him off track. My connection to this theme was that for a while, I didn't know what I wanted to do in my life after high school, however, I knew I didn't want to work in the same field like my mom or dad; I wanted to do something different than my family.

In the alchemist fate and destiny appear with Santiago's journey, destiny guides him through his journey like his recurring dreams about the treasures at the pyramids sets him on a path. Santiago also faces fate like when he loses his money or doubts his own abilities but it gives him deeper understanding and growth, My connection to this theme is like not doubting myself or learning from my mistakes.

Santiago is a shepherd who was raised to become a priest witch the idea of his father then he gets the feeling to truly discover his own identity and to pursue his life purpose obviously its gonna take some time for Santiago to get there but its great that he realized what he should do with himself and create his own path

Dreams branch from a person’s personal legend. Santiago overcomes his doubt of not being able to fulfill his personal legend. I am not sure what my personal legend is yet, and I think some people like Santiago know what their personal legend is from a young age. Although, some people don’t think they can achieve their personal legend and decide to take a “easier” path. I hope that I can fulfill my personal legend, but right now I feel like there are a lot of paths I can take, and I’m do not know which one is my personal legend.

Dreams are a reoccurring theme in the book, creating change into the characters life and criticizing the world their life. Santiago had a dream about traveling to the pyramids of Egypt; which caused him to peruse a more adventurous life, he later noticed more about his current life and how he wasn't truly content with herding sheep. The same theme is written when the crystal merchant is presented with the idea of selling tea in crystal cups; therefore expanding his business. This makes the merchant reflect on his current life, and changing his views.

(theyo updated) I connect to this theme because I really enjoy the "plot" of the omens, It gives a good interesting way to show " signs " guiding the main character, showing the boys growth as a character and his learnings across his journey, I find the omens very cool and eye-opening

The Personal Legend Theme shows up when Santiago realizes that he should be pursuing what he wants and live the life he wants after the tea crystal merchant talked to him. So, he starts working hard towards his goal with inspiring himself with new ideas to make enough money to eventually find the treasure he's been looking for. My connection to this theme is that I realized what career I wanted to pursue recently after some people told me I shouldn't, but that is what I want so I will keep working hard until I reach my goal.
