Various terns have been used to describe the process of getting a particular viewpoint accepted as the \\'right" way to see a situation. A term often used in the politica. world is "spin", a negative term that describes putting the best face on facts in order to reach a predetermined outcome. Another less- loaded term, for the same process is "framing"

A Frame is psychological device that offers a perspective and manipulates salience in order to influence subsequent judgement" (Hoefer, 2012)Chapter 6.

“you can tell they are sisters: one twines easily around the other in relaxed embrace while the sweet baby sister lolls at their feet, close, but not too close – cooperating, not competing. Seems to me i've seen this before in human families, in the interplay of sisters. After all, there are three girls in my family. The firstborn girl knows that she is clearly in charge; tall and direct, upright and efficient, she creates the template for everyone else to follow. That’s the corn sister” (Kimmerer, R. W.

“There are a number of factors influencing reevaluation that has led to the development of CDS. First, the social model of disability argued for a conceptual distinction between ‘impairment’ as a functional limitation and ‘disability’ as a socially generated system of discrimination. This binary way of thinking about disability has undergone a number of critiques from feminists, cultural studies scholars and postmodernists, which has led to tensions and splits within the disability studies community.” (Meekosha, H., & Shuttleworth, R.

“My father was a great storyteller, but I was unable to think about the meaning of his stories until I was an adult; then I began to understand that his stories were about life learning. He used metaphors where meanings were not immediately apparent to me. For example, he used to talk about a bundle of chopsticks that could not be broken if they were held together. This story was about strength in numbers and unity. The chopstick is thin, often made of bamboo, and fragile. This type of metaphor is used to shape values and cultural learnings in familiar places, everyday discourse, at home, and in the community.” (page 2) (Chan, A. S. (2021). The process of storytelling was a path of discovery and learning activated during my doctoral studies, when I was asked: “what was the journey that brought you here?” In order to articulate the story, I had to trust that I could find the worlds, and work with the knowledge that storytelling already had a place in my history. Female octopuses caress their eggs with exquisite diligence, using their suckers “and blowing water through them with their syphons”. “What is most notable and impressive are octopuses’ skilled abilities to change their color, posture, and shape. Shapes and colors are played out across the whole body. Octopuses are extremely sensitive and can speedily change to become part of their surroundings – as Montgomery observes, they “can change color, pattern, and texture in seven tenths a second” from being red(excited), white(calm, dreaming) and bumpy, to grey and smooth, to looking like a rock or seaweed, all in relation to – intra-acting with – whatever the environment happens to be.” (Reconfiguring Social work ethics, Bozalek & Holscher, Page 12)

makes me wonder - if humans could see how other humans were feeling due to color showing on their physical appearance, would we be kinder to eachother?

This day came to my mind after reading about how octopuses change color depending how they are feeling. In this photo, I am smiling, my body language looks relaxed, I look like I am happy. On the inside I was deeply depressed, anxious, having panic attacks and this particular day, terrified to get lost. I went out on my own while my husband was sick in our hotel room. Exploring this day alone is still one of my proudest accomplishments due to how I was truly feeling. (personal photo- Bejing, China, 2019)

"Our social context informed and supported the project’s choice to use cellphilm methods with our target population. Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble are all (currently) popular dating applications that people of all ages and sexual orientations download onto their phones and use to meet potential partners. There are also several websites, like Seeking Arrangements, that cater exclusively to individuals interested in forming transactional relationships. Visual self-representation are typically the first line of connection with a potential partner on any of these dating sites or applications. Clients are encouraged to regularly post selfies, short videos, a profile picture, and link to other visual based social media accounts (e.g. Instagram) to present themselves desirably. Often uses are required to physically tap to move beyond image-based photos and videos to access written information about an individual. The pervasiveness of these applications in young people’s lives led us to assume (correctly) that participants came to the study with a basic understanding of media literacy and how to use their cellphones to represent a particular image of themselves, especially as it relates to dating and sex."(page 5) (Quilted cellphim method: A participatory visual health research method for working with marginalized and stigmatized communities.

"The quilted Cellphilm Method was developed to attend to the pervasive marginalization and stigmatization that young people who trade sex experience. A key principle informing adaptations is that all individuals have the right and capacity, regardless of age or experience, to choose the extent and means of their participation in the visual research process. We use the metaphor of patchwork quilting – the process of using pieces of fabric to construct a design that can then be sewn together into a larger pattern – to help describe how this principle was enacted when working with participants."

"Transactional sex an offer a range of benefits to young women, including facilitating access to necessities or luxury good while allowing some control over the rates, timing, and conditions of exchange. Nevertheless, there is a concomitant risk of violence and coercion from partners/clients. The stigma surrounding consenting exchanges of sex for money or commodities is pervasive and ‘intersects with other stigmatizing statuses’, such as race, sexuality, gender, class and age. This context of stigma and its potential negative impact on young women’s health and wellbeing motivated the celling sex project to explore how young women who trade sex perceived their trading experiences and the possibilities for harm reduction."

“While the benefits of photovoice have contributed to its increased use by qualitative researchers working in partnership with community groups, this methodology also presents challenges for the ethical and rigorous conduct of applied research. There is an inherent assumption with photovoice that its results will ultimately stimulate change by influencing decisions and policies at the community level. Yet, this can only occur if the project is backed by the political desire to change within the community. Lack of relationship building prior to beginning the photovoice process can create ethical dilemmas about raising awareness and expectation among participants and other community partners, while maintaining the status quo (i.e., no viable opportunity for community action or change” (Nykiforuk, C. Mathematics is often termed the “queen of sciences,” and those sciences, such as physics and chemistry, that lend themselves especially well to quantification are generally known as “hard.” Less quantifiable arenas, such as biology (although that is rapidly changing) and particularly social sciences, are referred to as “soft”.
