He was born on  June 28, 1712 and died July 2, 1778. Though is mother died at a young age, Rosseau read with his father and sang with his aunt which inspired his love for writing and music. Some of his more famous writings include "Du contrat social" and  "L'émile ou de l'éducation".  His ideas influenced the government by introducing new ideas like freedom of religion and power to the people. Both his parents died when we was young, so under the care of his uncle, he studied law. His most famous works include Considerations on the Causes of the Grandeur and Decadence of the Romans and The Spirit of the Laws. We use his principle of checks and balances of the 3 branches in our government today. He helped bring light to the fact that the poor were people too and that all men are equal.
