Foster Care Children SHOULD have a voice by Mcguirel

Did you know over 500,000 children are in foster care systems? Well, it's true. If you think about it there is probably at least one child in your classroom that is or has been in foster care.

Children shouldn’t go into foster care when they’re 6 but not get to have a voice until they’re 10.

That’s just unfair. By that time it already would have been decided if they would get adopted or if they would go home to their parents.

But what if the children have something to tell the judge that they knew their parents would never tell them about.

Then that means a 6 year old child knows important information but they won’t
be able to share it until they’re 10.

Case workers are juggling up to 31 cases each: a lot of which are Large Sibling Groups

From
reading Helping Kids Find their Voice with new CASA program there are so many foster children in the world that caseworkers are usually juggling up to 31 cases at once.

And some of these cases are of large sibling groups.

That’s too much work on their shoulders and it also means that less attention is given to each child in each case. We need to take care of our own children.

It’s our job. We can’t leave kids hanging. If you’re not going to let them live with their family, then at least let them use their voices.
