These initiatives aim to support students who are struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression. According to a recent survey, more than 40% of teenagers reported feeling overwhelmed by schoolwork and social pressure. In response, many schools are hiring professional counselors and offering mental health education during regular class hours. Some schools have even created “wellness rooms,” where students can relax and calm down during the day. Teachers are also receiving training to recognize early signs of mental health issues in their students. Parents have welcomed these changes, saying they feel more confident about their children’s well-being at school. Experts believe that these efforts will help create a healthier and more supportive learning environment.

In recent years, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of single-use plastics such as masks, gloves, and food containers has sharply increased. Unfortunately, most of this waste is not properly recycled and ends up in landfills, rivers, and oceans. Environmental groups warn that plastic pollution is harming wildlife and entering the human food chain through microplastics. Some governments are now taking action by banning plastic bags and encouraging the use of eco-friendly alternatives. However, experts argue that stronger international cooperation and stricter regulations are still needed. Citizens are also being urged to reduce their plastic consumption by choosing reusable items and supporting sustainable products. If no action is taken, the level of plastic pollution could double by 2040, causing irreversible damage to the environment.

Title: Youth Unemployment Rates Continue to Rise Amid Economic Uncertainty

Who? Young job seekers and recent graduates
What? Are struggling to find stable employment
When? Over the past year, especially after recent economic slowdowns
Where? In many developed and developing countries
Why? Due to slow job market recovery and rising competition
How? Through delayed hiring, reduced job openings, and lack of experience

Article:
Youth unemployment has become a growing concern in both developed and developing countries. Recent reports show that the number of young people unable to find stable work has increased significantly over the past year. Economists explain that many companies are delaying new hires due to rising costs and economic uncertainty. At the same time, young applicants often lack the work experience needed to compete with older, more experienced candidates. As a result, many graduates are forced to accept part-time or temporary jobs that do not match their skills. Governments are trying to address this issue by expanding job training programs and supporting internships. However, experts say long-term solutions are needed, including educational reform and greater investment in youth-focused industries. Without meaningful action, the high youth unemployment rate could lead to serious economic and social consequences in the future.

The technology has evolved rapidly, starting with stem cell research in the 1970s and combining with 3D printing technology in the 2000s. The US and China, as well as Korea, are now producing artificial organs. US bioprinting company Organov has successfully produced an artificial liver, and Korea's Pohang University of Science and Technology is the first to produce an artificial organ.

3D bioprinting is a technology that reproduces the complex structure of tissues and organs in an additive manner, and can produce not only hard tissues such as bones and teeth based on medical imaging information based on CT or MRI, but also artificial hearts, blood vessels, and skin based on actual cells and biological materials. The research team aims to help regenerate damaged areas by creating customized organs tailored to each person's body structure. However, experts point out that a lot of research is still needed before it can be put into practice through clinical trials and validation. Researchers' efforts to return healthy lives to patients suffering from organ damage continue.

Dr. Amra Yuzic's research team at the University of Lund in Sweden recently revealed this on the 19th through a follow-up study of 1,792 Malmö residents over the past 12 years. The research team analyzed the incidence of heart failure by dividing the participants into four groups according to the WtHR level. As a result, the group in the top 25% of WtHR had a 2.71 times higher risk of heart failure than the other group. In particular, the higher the WtHR level, the higher the risk of heart failure, the more pronounced the tendency.

The research team pointed out that BMI does not properly reflect the distribution of body fat or abdominal obesity, and has limitations in that it is heavily influenced by race or gender. On the other hand, WtHR explains that it can be effective in early diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular disease as it can more directly indicate abdominal obesity. The study was also presented at the European Society of Cardiology conference, suggesting that keeping the waist circumference below half of the height can be an important criterion for keeping one's health.

Trontinemab is a technology that crosses the blood-brain barrier and efficiently removes amyloid—one of the causes of Alzheimer’s disease that interferes with communication between brain cells and impairs memory and cognitive function—even at low doses. By measuring the levels of pTau181 protein in plasma, the presence of amyloid deposition can be confirmed. This plasma test can help rule out individuals without amyloid pathology at an early stage, reducing the need to proceed to high-cost tests such as PET or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis, thereby saving time and costs. In Europe, it is scheduled to launch by the end of 2025, followed by the United States thereafter. In early clinical trials of trontinemab, a rapid reduction of amyloid plaques in the brain was observed among individuals with amyloid pathology. Among those treated with trontinemab, amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA-E) were observed in only about 3%, with only one individual exhibiting mild symptoms, indicating that trontinemab has an overall favorable tolerability profile. Roche announced its plan to initiate a Phase 3 clinical trial of trontinemab within this year. Roche is developing more than 10 new drugs, including those for Alzheimer’s disease, and is also advancing digital diagnostic technologies, aiming for a drug development approach that encompasses early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

In recent years, social media platforms have become a significant source of health information, particularly among adolescents and young adults. However, the widespread sharing of unverified or misleading content poses a serious threat to public health.

Numerous influencers, who often lack medical qualifications, promote health tips and remedies without scientific evidence. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for instance, false claims regarding vaccines and home treatments proliferated rapidly, contributing to confusion, distrust, and even physical harm.

Unlike certified healthcare professionals, social media personalities are not held to the same standards of accuracy. Their primary objective is to increase engagement through views and followers, which can incentivize the spread of sensational or incorrect information. As a result, some individuals have adopted extreme diets, consumed unsafe supplements, or disregarded essential medical advice based solely on online content.

These actions can lead to severe health consequences, including long-term damage or life-threatening conditions. Experts emphasize that while social media can be a useful tool for raising health awareness, it must not be regarded as a substitute for professional medical consultation. It is essential for users to critically evaluate online content, verify facts through credible sources, and seek guidance from qualified professionals when making health-related decisions.

Necessity of Nursing for The Elderly

Korea is scheduled to enter a super-aged society in 2025. In this society, where more than 20% of the population is 65 years of age or older, health care for the elderly is emerging as a national task. In particular, nursing for the elderly is essential to maintain the quality of life of the elderly with various problems such as chronic diseases, dementia, and decreased motor function. Health experts point out that there is an urgent need to establish a specialized nursing staff and community care system. Nurses provide customized care in hospitals and home-visit nursing sites, and help the elderly with physical and mental stability. In addition, the government is expanding nursing services for the elderly and striving to cultivate related personnel. These efforts have a positive effect on reducing medical expenses and supporting the independence of the elderly. After all, in an aging society, nursing for the elderly is becoming an essential field for the health and happiness of the whole society.

☑️When

In 2025, Korea will enter a super-aged society.

☑️Where

The proportion of the elderly population is rapidly increasing throughout Korea.

☑️Who

The elderly, health care professionals, and nurses play an important role in the nursing field for the elderly.

☑️What

Nursing for the elderly is essential for health care and quality of life improvement for the elderly.

☑️Why

The elderly suffer from many complex health problems such as chronic diseases and dementia, so professional nursing is required.

☑️How

In the community and hospitals, professional nursing staff provide customized care.

Ongoing debates about nurses’ rights and working conditions are drawing attention from nurses and nursing students around the world. These discussions have become more intense, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, as issues like heavy workloads, low pay, and lack of professional respect have come into focus. In countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Korea, nurses are raising their voices through strikes, protests, and online campaigns. As a result, the next generation of nurses is becoming more aware of their rights and is determined to demand better working environments. This growing awareness is shaping their values and career expectations, pushing them to not only seek change but to lead it. The movement reflects a shift in how future nurses view their role in the healthcare system. They are no longer willing to accept unfair conditions and are actively participating in shaping a more just and sustainable future for the profession. Through this ongoing advocacy, they are redefining what it means to be a nurse in the modern world.

Causing treatment delays, increased workloads, and reduced quality of patient care

Article:

Hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country are facing a growing crisis due to nurse staffing shortages. Over the past year, the number of nurses leaving the profession has sharply increased, with burnout, early retirement, and poor working conditions cited as major reasons. Recent reports indicate that many hospitals are struggling to maintain adequate staffing levels, making it difficult to provide timely and effective care. As a result, patients are experiencing longer wait times, and many procedures and treatments are being delayed or rescheduled. The remaining nurses are often responsible for more patients than recommended, raising concerns about patient safety and the overall quality of care. In some hospitals, emergency room wait times have significantly increased, and patient satisfaction is steadily declining. To address this issue, healthcare leaders are calling for higher wages, improved working conditions, and expanded nurse training programs. Experts warn that without swift and effective action, the quality of healthcare could continue to deteriorate, putting more patients at risk.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on healthcare systems around the world and has completely changed the medical field. First reported in late 2019, the virus spread rapidly, and hospitals had to set up dedicated wards and reorganize their existing care systems to cope with a rapidly increasing number of patients. Medical staff devoted themselves to patient treatment at the forefront despite heavy work and infection risks, which raised the problem of psychological and physical exhaustion. Meanwhile, as face-to-face treatment became difficult, non-face-to-face medical services such as telemedicine expanded rapidly. Digital healthcare technology was introduced radically in the wake of the pandemic and contributed to increasing access to medical care. In addition, quarantine systems such as wearing masks, distancing, and strengthening infection prevention systems in hospitals have also become essential elements in the medical field. The pandemic also revealed the imbalance of medical resources and the limitations of the public health system. Accordingly, each country has begun to prepare policies to expand medical personnel and improve the infectious disease response system. Through this pandemic, the medical community has reduced the need for technical and institutional changes as well as the ability to respond to crises.
COVID-19 has become an opportunity to demand medical direction and structural reform beyond the simple spread of the virus.

Over the past several decades, high-profile incidents—such as the 1977 Tenerife airport collision and the 2009 Hudson River emergency landing—have provided critical lessons for the aviation industry. These events revealed weaknesses in areas like communication, emergency preparedness, and equipment design.

In response, aviation authorities around the world have introduced stronger safety rules and improved pilot training programs. For instance, standardized communication protocols have been established to minimize misunderstandings between pilots and air traffic controllers. Emergency drills and advanced simulator training are now routine, enabling pilots to better handle unexpected situations.

Experts stress that studying past accidents is essential for continuous safety improvements. “Every accident teaches us something new,” noted an aviation safety official.

Title: The truth about caffeine: how caffeine really affects our bodies

Who? People of all ages, especially students and office workers

What? Are consuming caffeine regularly through coffee, tea, and energy drinks

When? Daily, especially in the morning or during times of fatigue

Where? All around the world, particularly in busy urban areas

Why? To stay awake, improve focus, and boost energy levels

How? By blocking adenosine in the brain and stimulating the release of dopamine and adrenaline

Article: Caffeine is one of the most widely used stimulants in the world, found in coffee, tea, chocolate, sodas, and energy drinks. Many students drink coffee to stay awake during late-night study sessions, and adults often rely on it to get through busy workdays. But what happens inside your body when you take that first sip?

When you drink a caffeinated beverage, caffeine is quickly absorbed into your bloodstream and travels to your brain. There, it acts as an adenosine receptor antagonist-a scientific way of saying it blocks the brain’s adenosine receptors. Adenosine is a chemical that builds up in your brain throughout the day and makes you feel sleepy. By blocking adenosine, caffeine prevents this feeling of drowsiness, helping you feel more awake and alert.

In addition to keeping you awake, caffeine also affects other neurotransmitters in the brain. It increases the levels of dopamine, a chemical linked to motivation, pleasure, and focus—similar to the way some mild drugs work, though caffeine is much safer. It also boosts adrenaline(epinephrine) production, which can increase heart rate, blood pressure, and energy levels, creating a temporary “fight-or-flight” response in the body.

However, the effects of caffeine are not always positive. Consuming too much can lead to side effects such as anxiety, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, and even headaches. People who drink caffeine regularly can develop a tolerance, meaning they need more to achieve the same effect. In some cases, they may also experience withdrawal symptoms like fatigue or irritability if they stop suddenly.

Teenagers are especially sensitive to caffeine because their brains are still developing. Health experts recommend that adolescents limit their caffeine intake to less than 100 milligrams per day—about one small cup of coffee. Despite its risks, caffeine, when used wisely and in moderation, can help boost concentration, reaction time, and mental performance.

Caffeine is more than just a drink. While it can help improve focus and reduce fatigue, too much caffeine can cause serious side effects like anxiety, insomnia, and heart problems. That’s why it’s important to enjoy caffeine in moderation and be aware of how much you’re consuming each day. A small cup of coffee might help you stay alert, but drinking too much can do more harm than good.
