Hun blev født i 1859. Hendes forældre hed Ane Hedvig Brøndum og Erik Brøndum.
Anna blev gift med Michael Ancher som også var maler, i 1880.
Og de fik en datter sammen, der hed Helga.

Her mødste han forskellige kunstnere, og fik selv voldsomt lyst til at blive maler.
I 1874 rejste Michael til Skagen med sin ven Karl.

Hendes store drøm var at blive maler, men det var ret svært. Kvinderne kunne ikke blive optaget på Kunstakademiet.
I 1888 rejste Marie til Paris for at videreuddanne sig. Der mødte hun så den berømte kunstner Krøyer, som hun blev forelsket i.

Allerede som lille var meget dygtig til at tegne. Da han var 13 år, begyndte han på Kunstakademier i København, fordi han gerne ville være maler.
Krøyer rejste rigtig meget, han rejste fx. til  Frankrig, Spanien og Italien. Han syntes det var spændende at se, hvordan andre kunstnere malede.
