         <description><![CDATA[<div>kansas often has to much or to less water. early settlers lived close to rivers and streams to sustain life.<br>streams also held food because fish lived in the streams which made life easier for early settlers.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>sunflower is our state flower</li><li>less than 4 percent of kansas is covered in forests</li><li>cottonwood tree elm oak and walnut. cottonwood is state tree.</li><li>buffalo, antelope, live here</li><li>the native buffalo almost stopped going to kansas because of how many were being hunted,</li><li>smaller animal populations got very big.</li><li>700 types of species live here.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>high plains, flat lands originally formed by sediments.</li><li>red hills region is different in appearance from the other regions, it contains red hills made of iron oxide</li><li>the indians believed thought there were healing powers on the red hills.  cherokee lowlands, glaciated region named after glaciers that used to cover the U.S.  ozark plateau has oldest surface rock in the state, arkansas river lowlands formed of rocks in rocky mountains that were carried by the arkansas river, wellington lowlands contains sand dunes covered with grasses, cherokee lowlands coal mining region, chautauqua hills this land is not cultivated but used as grazing land, smokey hills use to be under the ocean, flint hills uplands ranching area</li><li>osage cuseta contains east facing cliffs with gentle slopes to the west.</li></ul>]]></description>
