Some of them were(I only added books for now):
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom- This book is about how after your death, you aren't confronted with a lush Garden of Eden, but with five people who will help recite your life to you. Warning: There are some mild(in my opinion) triggering/bloody instances in this book, and this is only a "wish" according to Albom. 
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee- This book is centered around a sense of justice and some sort of a pride in prejudice. Warning: There are some violent and triggering events.
The Map of Salt and Stars by Jennifer Zeynab Joukhadar- Learn about the lives of the civilians in Syria as well as the purposes one has within; who you really are and your cultural foot steps. Warning: This book also contains some gore-y insights and remarks.
